I already turned off the water at the street and dragged out the shop vac before thinking to take pictures.
What’s with all this water? It hasn’t rained for weeks?
Yikes! Water is gushing from the sprinkler valves!
I opened the cover to the shutoff valves.
It was in the middle of the flood.
So I ran down to the street and opened the access. It was full of dirt. Took quite a while to dig down to the valve.
Now that water is no longer flooding in, I could use the shop vac to get the water out of the access hole, and turn off the water to the sprinklers so I could turn the house back on.
Cold dirty feet. The temperature is 44.
The temperature was 19 this morning (-7C) and we hadn’t turned off the water to the sprinklers. Somehow, we have to repair that every spring.
