Here are some pics of my scratch built flatcars. All redwood was cut by me, and I nailed the larger pieces using 1/2 X 20 nails. All the truss rods are made by me, using 1/16th inch brass rod. The stake pockets are made from .016 X 1/4 Brass flat stock, I used a pair of needle knose to bend the brass freehand. Then each pocket was predrilled and nailed into place. The King pins are 1/4 dowel, with a hole pre-drilled for the screw to hold the trucks on. They have not been painted, nor weathered at the time of the photos.
Notice These are not rivet counter nor contest quality, I’m planning on using these on many trains.My plans are to make side-boards for some of them, so ore and gravel can be hauled. These sideboards will be removable as needed
