Flashlight Bulbs? (NT-Kids)

I am growing weary of buying AA/C batteries for my kids flashlights…they leave them on, and they die overnight. Was wondering…is there a replacement for the el cheapo flashlight bulb in an LED? just curious…I know I could buy them some LED flashlights-for $20 each, not really what I want to do, and besides most of those are “too bright”…any ideas?

thanks

Why not just get rechargable AA/C batteries?

i have considered, but I know me...they'd never get charged (boys 4 and 3).

They make shake up, hand cranked or lever powered flashlights. I have a tiny shake up one that’s pretty cool. Spent $6 on it.

As far as batteries and kids goes, this was our policy:

“If you run the batteries down playing with it, we’ll get you some more. If you run the batteries down leaving it on, you’ll have to wait a while.”

The boys got very good at remembering to turn their battery toys off. They were heartbroken when a guest turned one of their toys on and hid it so they couldn’t find it. “We’re not going to hold you responsible for Dillon being mean.”

Tom, a recent video shows that opening most 6v lantern batteries (at abou 5-6 bucks each) yields 32 AA batteries. You might try this, very economic, pop the top off and the batteries come right out.

Regards, Greg

Not all of them! This is an Everready 9 lives:

Still researching. I’d love to find a Duracell Coppertop one;)

Now I’m looking everywhere for the shaker flashlight!
any leads?

Brookstone, but they’re pricey in there…

Don’t bother…I got one as a Christmas present and it ain’t worth a crap. As long as you shake it, it’ll work. Quit shakin and the lite goes out…finally bit the dust after a few months.

Wally World had them around $8.00 still have mine been 2-3 yrs, dont know why the other guys crapped out maybe just got a bad one. Try one out before you count them out. They do have to be shaken to make work but its no biggy. the Regal

Mine had gone intermittant. Goes out as soon as you point it at what you’re looking at, and comes on as soon as you turn it away. Perhaps I’ll take it apart and look for a loose joint or something.

found the shake lites at academy sports this weekend…they are Lithium powered and shake to power…we’ll see how they last…well, Eli has already lost his (he is the responsible one too!)…wish me luck!

I have the crank type of flashlight and it has worked for several years.

Costco had a 3 pack when I bought mine.

Good thing is no battery leakage to destroy the light, works in 10 seconds. Triple led’s inside.

I stopped buying nice flashlights. They seem to evaporate around our house. Looking for one last night to check a switch on the track. All I could find was a small “Disney Princess” flashlight. At least the batteries were still good.

Dear All,

I like Greg’s lantern battery idea.

About once a year our Menard’s gets a pallet of Alkaline AA 32 packs labeled for AC-Delco.

I have gotten them for as little as $4 (closeout) = 13 cents each.
It doesn’t pay to buy expensive rechargeables and go through the hassel of recharging at that price.

Another argument… rechargeables are actually twice as expensive — you need two sets, one in use, one in the charger.

I am very irritated at any manufacturer that uses expensive AAA batteries when cheap, common AA’s would have worked just as well. (TV remotes, walkie talkies, etc.)

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik
