Large Scale Central

Fish Camp Co. Store/ 2014 LSC Challenge Build Log

In the waning days of “The Challenge” the workmen finish the stairs to the Fish Camp Commissary,a Company Store of the Little River Lumber Company.

Boss Crumb, exhausted, enters another fugue state

and dreams of Sales, and selling, and making sales, and sales people …

and a GRAND OPENING!!!

Quite the celebration.

Now its time to plant this thing in the garden and wrap up this entry in Mik’s Challenge for 2014.

Thanks so much for looking and following along.

Doc Tom

Excellent!

Doc,

that really turned out great.

Tom, as always nice job.

Great build. Great company store!
Any sales?

I love the weathering on it. Very nice.

Very nice. Love the extras: beaver, rabbit, pig, and bear. Did I miss any? There’s no photo from the other side.

Well done.

Thanks guys for all the positive responses. It really means a lot. I am pooped from this build and am looking forward to just taking some pictures of this in the garden this weekend for the finale.

Doc Tom

Inspiring Doc, looks right out of the woods.

Really nice, Tom. And ya did it on the cheap, relatively speaking.

DAY OF RECKONING.

Col. Townsend, a hands on lumber magnate, wanted to see his new creation at Fish Camp.

He took Motorcar Number One and his trusty accountant ,Ralph, and paid the new store a visit.

He wanted to know exactly what he had spent of investor’s money.

Turns out he paid for the following:
4’ x 4’ insulating foam (blue) for nine dollars
Two packs of craft sticks for a total of six dollars
Tread tape for the roof at a total of $14.80.

The Little River Lumber Company was out $29.80 for the construction of this new store.

It was up to Boss Crumb to make a return on this investment. He promised considerable profits from sales at the Fish Camp Commissary.

Doc Tom

…winking…

As always …just fantastic Doc!

Thanks Ken and Rooster. This has been a fun project.

I don’t know what I like better, the store or the story that goes with it…

A superb looking project Tom which for me and I guess many others has not only been very interesting to follow but inspiring as well. I hope it encourages more folks to consider some model making.

You say, in an earlier post, that it was fun to do. I believe most of us have felt that way with our Challenge projects. Fun end creativity is what the hobby is really supposed to be what our hobby is all about whatever you choose to model albeit it structures or stock.

Sadly, I notice, many posters do not seem get the fulfillment from the hobby that they should.

Thanks for the thoughts Alan.

As the Right Reverend Sanford Madison Roberts III would say:

“Amen to that brother.”

Tom

Ah! I thought I recognized a ‘gentleman of the cloth’ as it is often termed over here. But I am surprised, as a Rt. Rev. he sports no ‘collar’!

But of course customs vary from country to country and he does minister out in Hicksville so recognizeable ecclesiastical garb would, most likely, raise an eyebrow. lol

The more building I do the more I enjoy it. I really enjoy your work and creativity Doc. I’m still finishing this build but I’m thinking about what the next one will be!

Thanks Doug,

I really appreciate that this “challenge” does get us in gear and modeling. Like you I am dreaming about the next structure for the layout…maybe time for the sawmill so all the log cars can have a place to go.

Keep up your good works your creation looks great!!
