Large Scale Central

First train back on the Okanagan Sub

It was slow going on Sunday, but once things settle in they figure top speed at 25mph. That will be nice getting to Vernon before sunset - even in the winter.

Nice video HJ, but that must of been one long boring day riding in the cab of that locomotive going from point A to point B. I hope they get to 25mph soon.

Thanks Chuck.

Some of the ex-KPR crews got hired on by CN - all in the same union local, so they didn’t lose seniority. Since they never got over 10mph while the KPR was running, the 6+mph on Sunday was only slightly slower. Scuttle-butt has it that CN replaced about 80’000 ties and they could still do with a few more. But with frost setting in they probably have to leave it til Spring.

They had a complete Herzog unit doing the work and one fine day, a few weeks back, they picked up more ballast and the whole mess froze in the gons. The super was not amused. All the spots we were hanging out need quite a bit more ballast.

While we waited for CN 3027 to come along, and then do the switching at Lehigh, there was plenty of traffic on the CP line.

CN has running rights between CP’s Kamloops yard and Campbell Creek where the Okanagan Sub starts.

Looks bloody cold up there, HJ. when does it snow?

When do we get to see you in your HiVis “Terrorist” suit?

That was a funny lookin’ caboose on that stack train…

It snowed already, just a trace. Lots of it up on the mountain, but I’m not skiing yet, too many other things on the go. Yep, it’s as cold as a witch’s …

Hi-Vis in the next video — it’s converting as I type.

That was one slow train. HD Video & Audio looked great on the new TV via Roku.
