Large Scale Central

First Photos of My Railroad

This railroad is operated by the Ellsworth Hancock Limestone Co. and is only a loop of track just to get my trains running. Eventually I will make some buildings like the lime kilns and expand the track to a quarry. My grandmother has graciously allowed me to use one of her gardens to run my trains through and the nice thing about building this into an existing garden is I have most of the work done… well except for all the weeding I’m going to have to do.

I’ll keep you posted once the track is actually ballasted and finished as well as some more plants added.

And don’t forget your Grandmothers wrath when you have to get to the derailed trains. Looks good Caleb. Keep us posted

Gotta start somewhere and that looks to be as good a place as any…

Hope the neighbors wont be a problem (theft, vandalism), just to be safe dont leave anything (cars, buildings) out when your not there. At least till you get a feel for the long term situation there. Looks like your next task will be to trench and ballast under the track, should be a fast job.

Thanks for the concern, Victor. That was also something I had to keep in mind, however the trailer to the far right and the trailer (behind where I took the photo) are friends of my grandmother, in fact the latter is the landlord. What’s also nice is that all the while she’s lived here no one has ever been down to her end which is at the far end of the park but I will exercise caution anyway and make sure the engines and rolling stock are put away and also buildings when I’m not there.

Them are flowers not weeds!!
Great start!
Noticed you had no problems posting poics!!
Sean

Excellent setting (Granny’s got a nice garden to start with) and great start!!

Sheesh Vic, can't you see that the trains and all will be nicely hidden in all the green stuff? Now other than that, didn't Caleb mention this was up in Maine?

Nice so far. You have to start somewhere. It only gets better from here.

You are off to a great start. Have fun and enjoy all the fresh air.
