Large Scale Central

First local show since Covid shut down, Excellent buys!

Went to the first train show thats been actually held locally since Covid shut down everything of that nature last year.  Nice show, 140+ tables with even some set up in the parking lot along with 2.5 buildings worth.  Tons of HO brass, regular HO and N and Lionel as always.  But also a nice selection of G scale at excellent prices.  Picked up the USAT GP38-2 for $175, UP hopper for $30, LGB BN grain hopper for $40 and the unboxed LGB NP box car for $15.  Great buys in my opinion!   Looking forward to the next show at this location(this was their very first show ever), which will be in November of this year.  Mike the Aspie.

Nice haul, Mike…

And the added bonus…the GP38-2 has sound! Not sure what system, has a momentary toggle switch on the front of the fuel tank to raise or lower the volume. I will find out what it has sound board wise when I do the battery conversion as I run dead rail. I also have a detail part set ordered off ebay that gives me all the Santa Fe roof details, AC unit, Prime 8901 beacon and mounting shelf, antennas, raise mount with Leslie RS3L horn and the various antenna platforms and such that adorned the cab roofs of these units. Need to find 4 micro LED’s as I have a circuit that runs on the typical battery voltage that goes in these(made for ride on scale) that does the Prime flasher beacon pattern. Just need smaller LEDs to fit in the dome of the scale beacon.

Good buys !! (edit because I forgot an extra “O”) but maybe they were “God” buys?

Thanks Rooster. Other G gauge seen for sale was an AB pair of USAT F3’s in Rio Grande colors for $450, an Aristo Santa Fe Warbonnet SD45 for $400, LGB Warbonnet F7 AB with Aristo streamlined ATSF coaches/obs for $1200 for the whole set with passenger cars. There were some various freight cars, 3 of which came home with me.

Is this show’s location a secret?

Nope, not at all. Peru, Indiana at the Grant County fair grounds. Once the dates get posted for the fall show I will post them here for those close enough or traveling thru that want to attend
