Fires in OZ

Tony and all our O friends. Here’s praying that yuou are all OK with the terrible fires raging in Victoria and New South Wales.
N

Agreed.
My prayers to all those in the affected area. Terrible tragedy. Something like 79 deaths already.
Ralph

Unfortunatly we are now over 90 confirmed dead, and substantial areas still left to clear in the search for survivors and those that didn’t make it out.
Many of the fires are still going…

It is comforting to see just how well the communities pull together, just a very sad way to demonstrate it.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I am actually closer to the floods in Queensland, than the fires in my home state of Victoria.

To all Ostrilians and British citizens who happen to be living there at this time - tac and mrs tac and the family ig are all thinking about you.

mrs tac was in melbourne a while back visiting with friends there, including Ostrilian citizens and British citizens who happen to be living there at this time…

Chin up, guys, we are all in this together with you, whether you are Ostrilians or British citizens who just happen to live the at this time.

tac, mrs tac & the family ig

Tac. Thanks for the thoughts. I am sure all Australians would appreciate them.

BTW. Just to repeat. I am not anAustralian. I am a British subject who just happens to live here.

Tony, do you have a Green Card?

Wow, 108 confirmed now and many areas that are still not accessible yet. Keep safe guys. The hell with the personal belongings. You can always buy more stuff if you are alive. Just get of the way!

Jon.

unfortunately i up date you that the death toll has reached 128…

They believe some of these fires were set.
There is no punishment too cruel or too inhumane for whoever committed these crimes.

A fair trial at 9am and hang them at 9.15.

I’ll volunteer to haul on the rope, but suspect that I would be at the end of a long line of Ostrilians and British subjects who just happen to live there…

To date, 131 confirmed dead, 10 seriously burned and not expected to live, 750 homes lost and 300,000 hectares destroyed, 31 major fires still burning in Victoria. As forensic police comb the burned out houses and find more bodies, the expected toll is anticipated to exceed 230 bodies. One town lost 550 homes and 20 dead. It seems that an arsonist is going back over ‘saved’ areas and relighting fires. Penalty, at present, is 15 years maximum for lighting a fire and 25 years maximum for lighting a fire endangering life. In reality, firefighters are placing their lives in danger every time they attend a fire. Federal and State governments are meeting to coordinate stiffer penalties for arson.

I would be very tempted to shoot an arsonist where he stood.

Just been watching it on tv again for about the tenth time today and feeling with them all for the lost people. Watching a big guy talking about a 12-year old boy he was playing golf with last saturday, now gone with all his family. Watching Mr Dunn trying to find words to describe his feelings.

Well, I know my feelings right now.

Hang the b@st@rds that did this.

Me, I’d be tempted to find a nice patch of glowing cinders and toss 'em in …

Death toll now 173 and climbing as access is gained to more areas

watching this thread and wondering what the heck is going on…

Toll up to 181

Tony, do you have a Green Card?

No, Tony would have a red card - or maybe a pink one!

All three actually.
Plus Blue and yellow.
One for every occasion.
