Who makes a good Firebox flicker effect that would work in my Accucraft K-36?
LSC member Dave Bodnar has made me some quality lightiing effects.
Here is what mine looks like.

Here is the article that explains how I do it.

Here is a photo of it going into an Accucraft C-19.

John, I checked that website but he doesn’t list a Firebox flicker unit that I can find.
Bob, that looks amazing but that’s beyond anything I could build. Thanks for sharing though.
Just go to an electronics store and purchase a amber and a red flashing led.
Not the greatest but quick and easy.
I have decoders that will do a gyro, and I program a red led for this and install a flashing amber. Works for me.
Dan, for a better effect, you could buy one of them battery powered tea lights. Some of them have a nice flicker effect.
Bob, Nice picture on the top of the how to page. Pretty little gal, aint she. Were you on the fall excursion with me?
Bob,
David Bodnar does custom electronics. E-mail him with your project idea.

You could use as much of the circuit as you want.

I used the camp fire effects board made by IronPenguin for a firebox flicker on my KISS K-36. It’s a small effects board and should easily fit into your loco.
Here’s a link (scroll down for Camp Fire module):
On my loco I use Airwire and Phoenix sound. The firebox flicker effect is set as a separate lightning function (accessory I think). Function 5 is what I addressed it to. When the firebox light is activated the Phoenix board plays a coal shoveling sound. Pretty cool.
Almost forgot, I think I used a larger orange/red LED then what came with the camp fire board.
http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/ sells flickering LED’s for a fair price.
