FIRE ON THE IPP&W RAILWAY

The volunteer fire department of Spruce were called into action today when a fire broke out behind the MacKenzie Lumber Warehouse.

Fortunately no one was injured and no damage was done to any of the buildings in the area. The fire was believed to have started as a result of railway MOW personnel burning weeds along the right of way.

That must have been exciting. I can see the volunteer firefighters standing around sipping on their beers. Of course no one would want to sacrifice THAT…

yea, you have to be careful of sparks around dry undergrowth.

No Holy Water was harmed during the fire.

You shoyuld have called in the KM fire crew. The Tower operator on the KMRR saw the smoke.

Glad to see immediate and decisive actions by firefighters held the fire from spreading into nearby structures. Hopefully aircraft were not used in the suppression efforts, that alone could prove costly for the railroad.

Paul, I see no evidence anywhere else of weed burning. This may be arson or so vigilance is needed: on the other hand it might just have been a carelessly dropped cigarette nub. lol

Can’t see the firefighters and by the way Bruce the only drink I, or my fellow volunteer firefighters usually got to drink was tea or coffee. lol

Thank God no little Bunny Rabbits Were Harmed!

KILL THE WABBIT! KILL THE WABBIT!

Good to see you are still taking nourishment, Chris…

Now we have the whole story. The volunteer fire department of Spruce was called into action last week when a fire broke out behind the MacKenzie Lumber Warehouse. The fire fighting car was quickly brought to the scene and the refilling hose dropped into a trackside creek.

The car quickly doused the flames with it’s the water cannon.

Fortunately no one was injured and no damage was done to any of the buildings in the area.

The fire was believed to have started as a result of railway MOW personnel burning weeds along the right of way. But they claimed it was started by a fire breathing dragon.

Clearly someone had been into Friar Fred’s holy water.

“i will kill the WABbit
wiff my sword and magic HELmet!”

The pesky foreman (Doug) refused to compensate the dragon for burning weeds along the right-of-way, so the dragon tried to burn the freight house…

Dragons do get hay fever. When they sneeze, some fire comes out. Probably was not intentional, it’s just that time of year. OBTW, did anybody give that dragon some chili? On the Brandywine & Gondor RR, our dragons are actually encouraged to keep spouting flames. It helps maintain the boiler pressure.

The “fire hobbit” actually keeps a large quantity of especially potent chili peppers on hand to keep the flames coming.

Have fun, David Meashey
