"Fine Folk" and other realistic figures?

I’m looking for some good, realistic figures. “Fine Folk” looks pretty good. (However, the website listed in the ads has been “under construction” for months.) Also they have a limited selection. Some of the Preiser stuff looks good too. What other sources make/sell high quality realistic figures?

Ray:

Check out Railroad Avenue Model Works Ltd (link). They’ve developed a good line of nominal 1:20 scale painted figures. Some are in quite unique poses / situations.

Bob,

When are you going to offer your figures painted. While I’ve painted some I find that the unpainted ones get put away in a drawer and often don’t get painted for ages due to lack of time and it’s getting harder to see and therefore paint the finer details.

Just an idea that’s probably totally impractical for you but would sure help me!

Im a terrible figure painter! Here’s my best one, and it took me ages to get right:

usually they look like some mutant, like this poor guy:

Those look purty darn good to me! You’ll have to find another excuse.

Those don’t look bad at all.

A wash with real thin burnt umber would bring out the detail.

That’s what I did with mine, Tom, and it really helped.

I really liked the article in GR about painting figures. We really don’t need to paint their eyes! After all, this is about how close we view these folks:

I read that article over and over. I use acrylic, not oil, but it’s a great article. I quit painting eyes unless needed for the expression.
