Is it possible to find old posts of members, and how does one go about that?
Steve, I tried TOC and nvtiny in the search box.
lotsa hits…I specifically tried ‘TOC Railtruck Procedure’ and found what I was looking for.
Fred and Bheer also gave me a page full
That seem to only find where they were mentioned inside the post, and I got everybody named Kevin, too. I’m looking for a list of posts made by kevin. We used to be able to do that from the member’s profile. No this “friend” crap seems to have that all screwed up.
Search by Member went away a long time ago, with the first upgrade to the current software. Google might help using advanced features. Try plugging in “by Daktah John” site:largescalecentral.com into a Google search box.
EDIT - I can’t get that to not be a link. I wanted it to just be text you could copy and paste.
Though you cant search, you can browse members posts from their profile page.

Not quite true. For some people that I’m friends with, I can see their posts. Other people that I am friends with I can’t see anything, as in this example:
Although I’m not sure why I have to be “friends” with somebody to browse their posts.
Interesting.
Well, it could just be the “super-secret” block that he has put on me. Or maybe he thinks I’m holding on to his Shay too long. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)
Yeah, I’ve noticed that, too, from the last upgrade. Its like I’m on Super Secret Probation from Dean Wormer in Animal House.
I think that’s “Double Secret Probation”…and yes, you’re on it. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
See. I knew it! Its so secret, I don’t even know what its called!
Don’t blame me!

What if old member changed his name?? " Daktah John"( John Radder ) ? how would you look up his old posts?
I’m pretty sure that the name is changed throughout.
And now my cover is blown completely. I’ll need to go back to the witness protection guys and get yet another identity. Thanks Sean (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)
John, how hard is that? I mean, I have heard, not that I know from personal experience mind you. But I…(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

I’ve got connections John!
Well, on the topic, I wish that people with private profiles did not stop you from searching for their posts.
Unfortunately, the setting of private seems to do this, friends or not. I guess they can leave it private and then you request “friendship”.
I really wish it would work on all members all the time.
Greg
I for one never understood why any profile is private… your posting on a public forum about toy trains… Nobody is forcing you to put any important information in your profile.
I post on here because I want people too see my trains and to meet others that share the same enthusiasm , many I have actually met in person… only one so far seems to be a bit sketchy and may need some help… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
