If I start saving now, maybe I could afford one in a couple years.

Hi guys:

Yes, good choice by Accucraft as USA Trains has the coaches!

My favourite is the non-streamlined 5343 and 5344 locos.

I wonder if Accucraft and USA Trains would do a joint venture to use the USA Trains body with an Accucraft live steam drive?

Sort of like LGB and Aster did.

Norman

Norman, that ‘deal’ between LGB and Aster has been the t*rd in the punchbowl at Aster Hobbies HQ in Yokohama since the last model - the White Pass mike - left the line. The bit that Aster made - EVERYTHING except the drive-train and wheels - was drop-dead gorgeous. The first couple of hundred made using the original drive mechanism turned out to be maggots in the apple - I had THREE before LGB over in Germany made it right. This happened only after TWO of my failed locos arrives on the LGB stand at Nuremburg Toy Fair within ten minutes of each other, causing near apoplexy among the assembled LGB upper-echelons. Remember that here in yUK there were no close-out deals for this lemon like you guys had. I paid almost $5000 for mine, and not the any-two-for-a-$1000 walk-outs that many of you enjoyed.

Talking about it to the late Fujii-san on a visit there back in 2007, he advised me that there would be nothing more in that line of shared-product business EVER coming out of Aster Hobbies. His sone has the self-same mind-set.

tac, ig, ken the GFT & The Yokohama Live-steam Boys

Hi TAC:

I never was tempted by the White Pass loco. I almost bought a LGB Mikado in Southern paint when LGB was giving them away but I never made the purchase as I did not like the two sectioned drive.

Bizarre how the quality of LGB declined in the later years. Aster obviously had a very high opinion of LGB otherwise Aster never would have entered into those joint model ventures.

Many of us have been badly burned by either dealers or mfgs. .

I think that this may account largely for the decline of large scale.

Personally, I will never get over being charged a dealer commission twice and deliberately taken advantage of by the other dealer in a joint arrangement to buy an expensive locomotive. Totally sucks out the enjoyment of that loco as each time I look at the model I think back to those two evil American mail order dealers.

You really need to be careful as to who you deal with. Who thought train dealers like this would exist in the model train hobby?

At least USA Trains and Accucraft produce a quality product which is why I thought of the USA Trains die cast 5343 body mounted on an Accucraft live steam drive.

I guess it all depends as to how competitive these mfgs. are towards each other.

Mine to Dave I cant wait. It’s going to be so cool. I have a friend working on doing one of these from a USA version, It’s been about 3 years and he’s just finishing the tender so this

announcement couldn’t have come at a better time.

Nick

I’m gonna need one of those. Better start saving my pennies. Thanks for the info, Nicky.

-Kevin.

Agreed Kevin, Need to start saving ‘NOW’… Now onto a few things.

1st, To Fred Devine…Please make sure that unlike the K-4 you did a few years ago to

use SS drivers this time. You advertised them to have SS but came with plated wheels.

Next please use a good Quality motor this time that wont over heat when pulling a good

size Train. and Finally while the K-4 was a drop dead gorgeous 1/29th loco the Dreyfuss

will most likely sell much better so please do it every bit as good as the K and you will

have a winner on your hands. O and please use LED’s and maybe a socket inside for

Easy decoder installs. You should also design and install a kick ass Puffing smoke unit

as well.

You hear me Fred ??? smiley

Nick

P.S. The 0 6 0 switcher is a awesome little loco that pulls well and runs reliably so

you guys are headed in the rite direction Quality wise.
