As a yout, I took up fencing. It all started with a PE class in college.
In the Navy, it seemed to get carried away, somewhat.
Now, I just use a Kukri for my whitlin’.

I have a Bat’leth, does that count as fencing?
I spent 2 days last week fencing the East pasture. I got foiled several times, does that count :)=:)
If its a wood fence my Bat’leth would make short work of it taking it down
Olympic funny [well I thought so].
An Englishman, Scotsman and Irishman wanted to get into the London Olypmic arena, but none of them had tickets. The doorman was looking at them very suspiciously and told them that they could only get in free if they were representing a sport. As you all know, the local area is still very much of a construction site, so, looking around, the Englisman picked up a scaffold pole, and walked up to the doorman -
‘I’m Dougie Frobisher-Smyther, England, polevault…’ the doorman let him in.
The Scotsman looked around, saw a manhole cover, and walked up to the doorman with it under his arm.
‘Wullie MacPherson, Scotland, discus…’ - he too was let in.
The Irishman looked around in some desperation, then, spied a roll of barbed wire. Picking it up and heaving it over his shoulder, he called out as he walked by the doorman ‘Liam O’Flaherty, Ireland, fencing…’

Prefer the Saber myself and in college as well. Of course the Cutless works fine too.

My father carried one of those things back into Burma … don’t think whittling was what the regiment had in mind …
