Large Scale Central

Feb 14-15, Gateway Garden Railroad Club Winter Meet, Carlyle IL

Thanks for the video Tom …first year I did not go and someone is operating C&EI rolling stock ?

Was there someone there with C&EI cars available ? WHO ?

Was it in the video?

You’ll have to look up Larry Tennyson. His son Fred custom decals cars and they are most beautiful. I was pulling 11 of them around mixed in with my own. I’m wondering what an “Asylum Valley N&D” box car would look like.

Tom,

Nice pics and videos. Thanks.

GGRC Members,

Lots of dedication and hard work made this happen. Kudos. Looks like a good club.

Did anyone notice the wheel hops of the second train on the video? I’m guessing it was coming out of a siding.

(In Scrubs-JD fashion I see a scale MOW crew speeding down the track.)

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

Yes, there are a couple rough spots in the track. Some of the modules need some work.

My fairly heavy loco and cars had no trouble.

Joe,

That siding goes into the J. Allen Switching Yard. There is a 2 inch piece of ever so slightly curved rail with a split jaw rail clamp on each end. Between the St.Charles Train Show and the Carlyle Winter Meet, I pulled this rail to make an adjustment to the insulated split jaw rail clamp by putting a plastic spacer between the two brass movable parts of the rail clamp. As I said, this piece of rail has a very slight curve. When putting it back together, I inadvertantly turned it around. When tearing down after the Carlyle Winter Meet, this was corrected. Hopefully, that bump won’t be there the next time. When assembling the modules it is hard to go back and make a correction in mid setup. The problem is that, as now scheduled, the layout will not be assembled again until Thanksgiving weekend in November. If I fixed it, the bump won’t be noticed or even remembered, if it is still there, we will go to “Plan B”. No idea what “Plan B” is at this time.

Plan “B” = think of a Plan “C”…

Plans? I NEVER make plans.

There’s also quite a bobble in the module next to the bridge where the module sags.

Tom, if you watch a train run, there’s quite a few ““Bobbles”” in the track, from module, to module…

I have another video that shows…
