The Gateway Garden Railroad Club will once again be holding our winter train weekend at the Mariner’s Village Hotel and Conference Center in Carlyle, Illinois. The 2011 event is, like all others, on the second weekend of February and is open to the public. Setup is Friday afternoon and tear down is Sunday afternoon, between those times we will have continuous train running, events, clinics and slide shows. Seven days from now, and many of us will be heading to Caryle Illinois for the Winter Meet. Joyce & I can hardly wait. It will be interesting to see what we can learn at the clinics, and what new things the vendors can show us. Dale Loyet
Hey Ric,
Sorry to inform everyone going to the meet that we will not be able to attend. I slipped and fell on some ice on Monday and spent the last two days in the hospital with two torn ligaments, separated ankle joint and a stress fracture to the bone. Robby at RLD will have at lot of our products on hand and we’re going to miss seeing all the members and running trains.
My appologies and I hope to see all of you at York?

Hi guys,
Tom I crossed this ice patch thousands of times and this time when I thought it was dry, it reached up and said; not today! Call or email me if you have any questions about the New RailLinx Control System by RCS.
Thanks Geoff, good to from you! It’s been a long time.

The 2011 Winter Meet is now history. Attendance was down a little, because of broken bones (yes, more than Ric Isard’s), we think the great weather since people have been couped up since New Year’s and probably ice in some out line areas, where people were just digging out. Sunday’s temp hit 50 degrees and lots of sun. It felt so good. We literally had to also work around the ice in this area, just to pull this event off. On Sunday morning, we had an impromptu OPs Session that gave many ideas for the future and over all, I believe it was a very successful weekend. Thanks to all that helped and attended.
Hi Ric… Glad to hear you had successful Meet. I’ve been watching the weather back there and know you’ve had some real issues with ice and snow.
Sure sorry to hear of the “slips” and dips from those who have broken bones. Tain’t fun.
See y’all in York…
I was able to attend Friday for set up and club meeting… Had a blast and was disappointed I could not attend again on Sat. or Sunday,. I did not take pics but I am sure someone did!!!

Some freshly painted equipment that was on display. That’s the new Bluestone Southern RDC3. Boy does that look good running at night. The lighting is awesome.

Bob Temper’s ongoing clinic on making Sculpy figures. He’s done this in the past at York, but this year he’s not going to be there.

Since we are putting in pictures of newly painted railroading stuff, he’s a different shot of my BS RDC-3:
Unit went back to the paint shop… Will have a white strip painted above the windows down the side… Should have it back at York… Here is a shot of my S-4…
Nice - I see you finally got someone to do that BS logo for you. It nooks great
TY Jon… Fred did a great job on them… He said he’d have all 3 at York for me…
Fred promises a lot of things. You get what he brings.

Stutter much Rooster ?
Andy - When you emailed that request I did put some time into it. I got hung up on the fonts, trying to exactly duplicate the B&M font. I was also stuck on hew to get the S to weave in and out of the B. In the end Fred didn’t get hung up where I did and came up with a nice logo - even if it is BS !
