Large Scale Central

Feature requests & the low priority To Do list

Ken, Mik, Ralph and all the rest of you guys: Every one of you has enriched my experience of this site, and if you left, or shut down communications, it would detract from the experience around here. Please stick around, let bygones be bygones, and lets not start taking hastily-worded comments personally. It’s awfully easy to give and take offense in an e-mail, and usually no harm is intended by the writer; it just somehow comes out wrong or pushes someone’s button unintentionally.

If folks could just follow one simple rule: to edit posts to take take out that little word ‘you’ entirely - yes it is possible, and very worthwhile taking the trouble - then there’d be much less for people to take offense. “You” points fingers and makes people defensive. This is a common observation in live conversation as well. Ask me how I know this…

With a big winkysmileyface, (if I only knew how to add one) I challenge YOU to wipe the slate clean, shake hands just this once, and promise to try my suggestion.

End of sermon. Thank you, thank you very much.

it’s simple

semi-colon ; and a )

gives ya this

Been around this place too long, got too many friends, so don’t worry about me…

If you are meaning the Railroad History, it’s there on the Home page in the lower right. Here is a link to it…

He might be referring to the Railnews.net feed I had on the front page.

I havent quite figured out the right way to package this for the new site, but its on the list.

Thanks, Jon. It did get kinda noisy, didn’t it?

I’ll wait. No hurry, Bob.

I hope this thread is still the right place to post requests.

I think it would be great to fix the “html like” formatting that gives you 2 blank lines for every one you request.

It’s hard to write a post and then delete all the blank lines and still read it… likewise I feel bad making a post with 50% whitespace!

Thanks, Greg

Hey Bob,

What happened to the city, state, and country information that was listed under our name and profile picture. I really like knowing where everyone was located. Can that feature be added back in?

Chuck

Added. Another thing that slipped through the cracks. Thanks!

hey Bob - This still isn’t showing up in the posts.

Hi, Bob.

Thanks for LSC. I enjoy it very much.

Has the speed of the website slowed down?

Sometimes I get about 12 seconds/maneuvering click, 5 would be nicer.

Vista, Firefox, cable modem.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

Edit: Now, today, it’s down to about 6 seconds. Sheesh. It must know when it’s being talked about…
