Fascinating little film, Ffestiniog railway

Fascinating little film, Ffestiniog Wales

You got me curious Vic, so I looked up the place you mention and found this fascinating (to me) footage. I skipped through it without watching the whole show; I think I’ll let it play while I’m painting later today.

The only other thing I have to say is that these people in England really need to learn how to spell stuff…I’ll bet a spell-checker would disintegrate on them.

A little more about the railway.

For the record the railway is not in England but in Wales, so the spelling is down to them. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

There are plenty of unusual little locos to model for those not doing Colorado or Class 1 lines.

I think somebody modeled that railway some years ago. I remember the strange Welsh name.

Thanks for posting that, Vic. It was indeed very fascinating!

John, your video is interesting too. I’m curious about the black, American style loco that was lettered for some sugar RR. It’s not on the Ffestiniog’s list of motive stock, so I’m guessing it must have been making a guest appearance from somewhere else.

Fascinating stuff here. Cool. I think the little ones are my favorite kind of trains.

I love reading you guys from over the other side of the pond discussing our quaint ways. That part of north Wales is a Mecca for us NG enthusiasts over here. I make a regular trip every other year up there. Apart form the the Festiniog there is its sister the Welsh Highland (and heritage namesake), Snowdon Mountain RW(rack), Talyllyn, Fairbourn, Balla Lake, Llanberris Lake, Llangolen (std gauge), Great Orm tramway, Corris and Vale of Rheidol. There are a few other attractions in the area like Electric Mountain, Blaenau slate mines and Portmerrion. You could spend a couple of weeks there. google them. Here’s an old, US made, documentry of the grandaddy of them all. P.S. I might not have got all the spellings right, I’m English (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

This link gives some detail on many of the locos in the video. There were visitors too the line Ray and they are having another bash this month sometime.

That’s a very nice little railway, thanks for posting.

Makes me want to go out and purchase another Roundhouse.
