Yes, a fantasy.
However, what an improvement IF Garden RR relegated “proposed products” as news items in a new “Upcoming Products section” and refused to run vendor ads for products that do not exist UNLESS the disclaimer “Upcoming” (or other wording) is attached to the product’s graphic or description.
Obviously, the word of the manufacturer would be tested.
Any mfg.'s complaint of not being able to “test the marketplace” by people ordering phantom products would be resolved with the magazine’s new “Upcoming Products” section AND vendors including in their ads: “Upcoming - Orders taken NOW!”
The basis for this posting is historical. How many hundreds of references have we read over the years from those ordering from ads and discovering their order was simply a marketing survey?
