Large Scale Central

Fall pic thread.

Did we have a Fall pic thread?

I took some time to catch some of my Maples in brilliant color!

Looks good with the covered bridge!

Most of my layout looks like this right now

Those Maple look beautiful .

I’ve been trying to get some but no luck .

Mike

Looking good Sean, even the creepy old factory looks inviting.

I will put in a Pic here. This is Little River Rail Road #1 moving a work train on a newly constructed bridge as the leaves fall down.

Doc Tom

I never got a chance to run while there was color. If the weather was good I was cleaning up leaves and other get-ready-for–winter jobs. If the weather was foul I just stayed inside. But even though most of the leaves are down it’s still officially fall. Today was a nice warm mostly sunny day so the trains came out to play.

The first train out was the Westbound Mixed featuring ET&WNC Combine #1. This car has finally made it back to the active roster after conversion to body mount Accucraft couplers. I know it’s not 1:20 scale, but I have no budget for AMS passenger cars so I’ll ignore the scale problem…

These Bachmann passenger cars were my very first detailing job when I first started in Large Scale nearly 14 years ago. They still look good even if they are a bit small compared to my Fn3 cars…

Here CVSRy M-11 waits in the hole at Indian Hill Junction for the Eastbound to finish so they can run the Westbound job…

Later in the day CVSRy Porter #3 leads a short passenger train up the hill. These cars look a lot better behind the small Porter…

This will most likely be the last freight switching operation this season. I’ll still run a few out-and-back trains when I can and of course plow extras when we get some snow. It was a great day to run trains!

Nice clarity pics!!

How come you call your Porter #5 when it’s marked #3? :stuck_out_tongue:

it must be train #5, being pulled by engine #3

Poor proofreading I suppose. Thanks, I fixed it.

Nice!

Good stuff John. Fall is a tough time for me especially this year. Between the leaf battle and moving I never really had a chance.

It’s still officially fall. The last snows have melted and there is just a bit of “dust” in the shadows from recent flurries. I went out with the mini leaf blower today and did what is hopefully the last clean-up before spring. I have plans to run a few trains on Sunday, maybe some live steam, so long as life doesn’t get in the way! Pics soon if I get 'em.

@Rooster - I’ve been using an automatic Aperture mode on my camera. Selects the smallest possible aperture setting for the light conditions. Gives really nice depth of field, but needs very fast ISO setting and slow shutter speeds in all but bright sunlight.
