Hey Hans, if people treat it like its radioactive, dont buy them and they have to fire sale them real cheap, I’ll take it, paint is easy.

CNJ RR is certainly not my forté, but one look at that PIKO fantasy was enough. What was the Blue Comet about? http://tinyurl.com/lzj3786 the Tiny Url goes to relevant pictures. I rest my case, except to me it looks like the old “The dumb Americans will buy anything” attitude that was prevalent at Richter’s LGB. Déja vue!
hey whadda ya mean? it’s close… only missing a few wheels and a bit short, lol
Well, this certainly is interesting.
Camelbacks occasionally pulled the Blue Comet as well, the most famous being #592, currently at the Baltimore RR Museum. And, son-of-a-gun, if 592 isn’t the road number that Piko has modeled. Funny how that works out.

I guess if one considers that it’s “G — wie Gummi” it is certainly is “close” (in a horse shoe kind of way) .
The text and some of the superstructure look photoshopped.

So, waddiya want, eggs in yer beer? Its at least closer than you thought. Yeah, its the wrong shade of blue, but at least its blue. I’m not a big fan of that German red on the pilot and drivers and other wheels, but I would think that might appeal to you, hj.

The number on the side of the cab, in the Piko “photo” is definitely photo-shopped. The cab is at an angle to the camera, but the numbers are square on. The tender lettering also looks “off” to me.

It’s just a mock-up (or should that be muck-up???), besides plenty good enough for “G”. From 10ft nobody will notice.
BTW on that garish colour, I wonder if René Wilfer will spring the bucks so the Baltimore RR Museum repaints their exhibit to match the “model”? If BEMO and LGB could convince RhB to repaint 412 in blue R.W. should be able to have the “suitable” paint on 592. “Would you like that Biggie sized??”
Well if they can get them to pain it they might be able to get the front pilot wheels switched to only 2 and get rid of the rear one also, oh and shorten the whole thing by 10-15 feet also. One of the local guys is getting his camelback on monday, hopefully he doesn’t like it and sells it for a good price so I can get it
Blue?
Is it a good guess the customer base for PIKO is one color is a big marketing discriminator and not the livery? At least PIKO will find out. Maybe the marketing folk said to hitch-hike on an animated move title years ago.
For our readers, apparently, the drive train wheel arrangement is not accurate and conflicts with the actual 1:1 train and camel back loco.
From reading TRAINWORLD’s newest ad spread in Garden RR, PIKO is it. Perhaps THE replacement for LGB?

While Richter’s LGB was decidedly “G — wie Gummi”, Wilfer’s PIKO LS stuff is “G — wie Gummi²” (squared). OTOH I hope he sells enough of that “stuff” to never-ever consider getting into IIm and producing RhB items.
