Fall clean up

Started doing the Fall clean up on the GRR today. Although there are still quite a few leaves on the trees, the Maple in the GRR has finished dropping it’s leaves.
Unfortunately, the switch on my leaf blower is bad. Only had high speed. The resulting 2000mph scale winds were not kind to my Moss or ballast.
Got an 8’ x 8’ x 4’ tall pile of leaves off of half the GRR. Naturally, the wind picked up about the time I was finishing. So, I couldn’t burn them and now have a huge pile of leaves in the driveway :frowning:

The good news is that overall, things are in pretty good shape. It shouldn’t take too long to get operational.
My Depot fell apart when I picked it up. I don’t know how so many of you have had such good results with Goop. When I use it, things just fall apart a year later. Much like any other glue I’ve tried. Time to hunt down a can of MEK and build my structures outdoors.

Ralph,

MEK and Acetone are both available at Home Depot here in Florida.

You're right. I've run trains elsewhere, but haven't run here since July =( I hope to be ready to run by next weekend :) Ralph

Your depot fell apart because it was lonely for passengers!

I think our varying climates are a big challenge to our glues.

My challenge has been with the styrene buildings from Colorado Scale Structures. I haven’t found a styrene cement that works well. But I have a couple that have held together well that were cemented the same way the others were. Go figure. I just re-glue them!

My current cement that seems to be working is five-minute epoxy. But next year something else will work better!
