I don’t know if this has been edited for content or not, but WOW!!!

My guess is that this is post production editing. Still…
holy crap…
Dang, Steve, USS Wasp is steam powered.
Steve:
As much as I admire both our military technology and the highly skilled warriors who operate the resulting machines, the ‘video’ purporting to show an F35 doing a loop on takeoff is a FAKE. It is actually the virtual output from a video game called Battlefield 2 or something similar.
This ‘video’ was first shown the light of computer screens a year or so ago when the F35B was undergoing carrier suitability trails. It was initially presented as being real, but was debunked within a matter of hours. As is the case with lots of internet scams, it continues to make the rounds.
As a pilot (although of somewhat lower performance aircraft), I can definitely tell you that the laws of physics, and especially gravity, have not been suspended nor cancelled by the potential addition of the F35 to the Fleet Air Wings!!
Happy RRing,
Jerry
Jerry, that is why I wrote my suspicions. You did see those, didn’t you?
I. too, know what an airplane can do, or is supposed to be limited to, but I have seen the Harrier do some things that defy normal aeronautics. Ducted exhausts add so much to what the aircraft can do.
Just wait for the “C” model!

Yep, your suspicions were registered. I was just trying to confirm them. Language and emotion are sometimes difficult to express on the internet!!

Nice vids Steve. The one may be faked but it’s still something to see.
Is it real?? or is is Memorex? (dating self)
When it comes to the military …
Always tell the truth, Never tell the whole truth.
Does anyone really know how fast the SR71 can really travel?? What the government tells us and what the reality is are two entirely different things.
Bob C.
We have a real SR71? Says Who? I can neither confirm or deny that we have such an aircraft in our inventory. And I want the name and address of the person that told you that we did!

Like a bat out of hell! I got that from a guy who used to fly them. For some reason he wouldn’t be any more specific.
Steve,
ROTFLMAO

Back in the early 70’s while in the Army at the Aeromedical Rerearch Lab at Ft.Rucker Al. We were involved in a joint research project with the Air Force thru the research center at Eglin AFB Fl. Jointly with NASA, us and the AF on human factor and the high altitude flight environment. We worked with Black Bird pilots and some shuttle program want-to- be canditants. All the SR71 pilots were full bird Colonel or LT Colonels, they wore special emblems on there sleeves that I think was 100,000 foot club or something to that order. Even with a Top Secret clearance I never found out what the speed was that was set up in the parameters of the test, it was always referred to as “at assigned speed” and never a listed speed such as Mach 3+. My photo work was always second hand from the AF guys, I got to be around one but even I wasn’t allowed in the bird. Only the AF photo guys with there cameras. BTW they are really big planes… Bigger then you would think for as fast as they go.

Up here in TGWN we get a very special model. It has the designation WTF-35. (the cartoon in the paper told me so :P)
Yea, a much safer deck.
The carriers will be able to carry even more planes
The scuttlebutt I remember about the Blackbird was that back in the day under the right circumstances and atmospheric conditions the SR71 could crest Mach 4 to 4.5 but that it could only breach those speeds for short distances before heat abrasion damage would begin. Interesting stuff heat abrasion …check out the last flights of the X15 to see what air molecules hitting a surface at Mach 6.5 can do the most high tech of surfaces.
I doubt the F-35 will replace the standard aircraft for the Navy. From what I read (and I could be wrong) the VTL capability limits the payload it can carry. I know the Navy wants to replace the F-18 but I dont think they have anything yet.
The F-35 is certainly a great piece of technology…But the reviews from outside our armed forces are not entirely favorable. Cost over-runs and development problems have potential customers backing away on purchase commitments. Australia, Canada, Italy, all have backed away. A poor world economy hasn’t helped either. Still an amazing aircraft!
