Large Scale Central

F-units & Passenger Cars

I’m thinking of doing up an A&B set of F units as the Norfolk Southern Executive Train (Office Car Special OCS) and a couple cars.

I have a possibility of jumping on a set of LGB units for a good price, but wonder how they will look with other cars. Can anyone set and A with a couple of makes of different passenger cars, since its unlikely I’ll be able to get any of the LGB cars at a reasonable price. I’m thinking that the LGB units and teh original aristo smoothside, streamlined and heavyweights shouldn’t look to terrible, but I doubt they’d look good with any of the USA streamliners.

Any thoughts? I’m only thinking of an A, B and 2-3 cars, just a small traveling set. Should I jump on the LGB units or wiat and try to find a good deal on some USA ones?

Very interested to see this myself. I only have the LGB units with the LGB streamliners…And they don’t “line-up” perfectly. The LGB F-units are taller than the LGB cars.

Appears as the LGB F-unit is taller than the LGB streamliner.
The LGB streamliner is taller than the Aristo streamliner.
The Aristo streamliner is taller than the Aristo heavyweight.

I think the Aristo streamliner would look ok with the LGB units. I also think if you can pick up an LGB set at a great price I’d do it. They are like “G”-scale gold, harder to come by than cash but EASY to sell. If you don’t like them you can unload them easily. Still my favorite engines to run!
