Extra features in the LSC software

Back when the new software launched I noticed some format resemblance to Facebook, but didn’t spend time to check out the “finer points”.

One of the finer points is a nice feature called “block member”.

Click on any member’s name (attached to each post) and up pops the profile for that member. On the LH side below the member’s avitar you’ll find a block of choices.
Looks like this:

Which comes in very handy — the Block Member feature — for those persistent cases that are extremely tiresome.

The counter part is one line up: “Add to My Friends”.

So are we to block you out HJ :stuck_out_tongue:
I did also notice that feature.

I don’t care one way or the other.

As mentioned back in 2011 I came to the conclusion that conversing with some people is not worth my while.

I use the other feature but probably will not use the BLOCK feature!
HJ thanks for pointing those features out.

HJ, have not researched, does this block private messages or block viewing their posts in a thread?

Thanks, Greg

hmmmm, unlike on FB, I believe it just blocks private messages. But that’s a start, basically same deal as blocking email from “strange sources”.

Easy enough to just ignore posts from certain people … which reminds me …

I went through this with Bob when the software first came on-line. We are not really sure if it works as we didn’t set up test users and experiment. According to the documentation the feature will block selected members from seeing your posts. It is not a filter for what you see :frowning:

Well, that might be really useful… perhaps it would stop some of the harassment and name calling lately.

I guess it could also be used improperly, you could call someone an idiot but block them from seeing your posts so then they would hear about it from their friends… of course if they had no friends… but i’m wandering off…

Be nice to see how it really works, I suppose the block is reverseable.

Greg

Greg,

We could set up a test thread and find out, eh!

Jon

I don’t quite understand what you and Sean are talking about¿

Perhaps I am missing something¿

But the software has other problems.

If I post a picture to my album, the next time I visit the site, it forgets who I am and I have to log in again.

I’ve no idea why that should be.

OK - Do you have a specific question? Or should I just try and explain it again another way.

That would be the same as on FB, but needs to be tried (?). Worth a try. What you say Greg?

Found my old discussion with Bob…

Found this is settings. Seems it’s designed to work exactly the opposite of what was expected…

Adding a person to your block list makes your profile (and all of your other
content) unviewable to them. Any connections you have to the blocked
person will be canceled. To add someone to your block list, visit that
person’s profile page.

Probably because I blocked you!

Jon,

Would have been nice, but no big deal. Just one more on the “ignore any and all comments” list. That’s how I keep my blood pressure in the 110-120/75-80 range.

Perhaps the LSC software needs some tweaking
