Extending bachmann log cars

The Bachmann log cars have always looked short to me. I like the look of the AMS ones much more but when I was buying them I could get 3 B-mann for one AMS. So, I found Nonesuch car and foundry who made extensions for the B-mann log car. I bought them a few years ago and just got around to making them. At $5 each I thought they were a good deal. Here’s some pics…

The old and new. I did a bad cut job so I have big joints. The installation is easy. Under 30 minutes to do the work.

close up of the joint.

I added some styrene ‘metal banding’ to hide the joints.

Odd, photobucket’s direct link isn’t working.

Cool!

kinda looks like these:

Terry,

use the little square with the tree in it (insert/edit image) to enter the URL of the picture.

Typically, the photobucket direct link works just fine. Dunno what’s up with it.

What does it look like just before its joined together?

Steve, a mess…

Terry, the extension looks good…

Terry,

Great idea covering the joints with banding. Hides the joint well.

Steve, next one I do I take pics of the extender.

Used too, but it’s a different format now.

The other option is whack them, make disconnects out of them, add pockets and roosters.
Me? I think I still have a couple…logs have batteries in them.
Haven’t needed them in years.

Nice work Terry !

Nice looking Terry. Do you have a link to where you got those extensions?

Chuck

I don’t know if they are around anymore. The company was nonesuch car & foundry.

Chuck, here’s a link I found- http://nonesuchcf.com/

Here’s some more pics.

Hey Terry,

Thanks for showing us how the extender works. I actually found the manufacture’s web site and it seems like they are still in business based on the quote that they were not taking anymore tree orders for 2013 because of work and family. I sent Mike the owner an e-mail and we’ll see what whats. Here’s the link http://nonesuchcf.com/

Chuck

I guess we both have the link. Maybe I need to start reading first and look at the pictures second. LOL
