About 7 PM this evening I put a train on the tracks, and Brats on the grill… and we had fun until the skeeters chased us inside at about 10PM.
About 12 of the neighbor kids and 4 adults came over to watch the train for a while, BS, and mooch some Cokes. If this keeps up I’m gonna need to put out a second park bench
12 kids? You had quite the crowd.
Make some Iced Tea for all those guests. Much cheaper than handing out Cokes

In other news… We also found out who the vandals are. Had absolutely no trouble until this last week, then stuff started getting messed with. A guy’s wallet got stolen out of his car. A little girl’s clothes got stolen while she was in a wading pool. A tree got spray painted – and I’ve lost some figures, had a fence broken, and plants trampled… The other kids fingered the 3 boys of the people who just moved in. Of course their ‘parents’ say it COULDN’T possibly be THEIR little angels - and got quite nasty about it… I see them in the garden, or in anybody else’s stuff, I’m taking a picture and calling the cops. Let 'em get nasty with the judge and see what happens.
I may not get it done this summer but I hope to get more lighting installed for night running. In the summer on the desert we can only run from 6-10 a.m. and after 6. That goes for maintenance too. We don’t battle skeeters but we do get buzzed by bats sometimes! I think you need a honky tonk to liven up the night life!
