Large Scale Central

ET&WNC Coach

If you’re interested in a more “modern” narrow gauge coach, I am initiating a project to build an ET&WNC style coach. These will be like the Azalea project earlier, but done in styrene.

Instead of truss rods, it will feature a simulated steel frame, again, done in styrene. Proposed features: - Built from laser cut styrene - Removable roof, with molded roof ends - molded bellows - etched interior and exterior sides - bulkheads and interior walls for the bathrooms - window framing - separate doors - 50 foot scale length - 1:20.32 scale Still to be decided: - under frame details such as tanks and valves - we may not include these as they cannot be seen unless the car is turned over - interior details, such as seats. Another company already produces narrow gauge seats. - etched car floor The kit will NOT include trucks or couplers. It will be made so you can attach Accucraft trucks, or any others you might desire. These cars will be styrene kits made by Alan Friedland (http://www.thegalline.com/index.html) This is looking to be a $300 plus price range per car, assuming I can get a few other folks to cough up $150 now to get the project underway. It will take some time to get things going; I will receive a prototype kit and put it together and make any comments and request changes if necessary. Once complete the other cars will be cut. If you’re interested, please contact me via e-mail and I will forward the payment information to you. IF we can get this going, the next car will be the ET&WNC triple combine: baggage, coach, and RPO!

How funny, Bruce, I saw the topic on the front page and knew exactly who had written it

Unfortunately I don’t have money and I’m not modeling the D&RGW, but I’m still gonna anxiously wait and see what you guys can do with these.

Hehe. I'm not modeling the D&RGW, either. ;) But, while these are based on the ET&WNC narrow gauge coaches, this was a more modern design more common after the turn of the century.

My railroad is supposed to represent a prosperous NG line; not that there was ever such a RR!

In case you never heard of Alan, his crane was entered in the model competition in the 2011 ECLSTS, and he helped us make kits for the EBT coaches. Here’s my passenger train - the front two coaches are half-Alan’s styrene, half Accucraft.

Pete, Bruce, there are a couple of photos of modified Accucraft coaches using Alan’s side walls in the Summer 2012 Narrow Gauge Annual. Pretty sweet.

Okay Pete, where did you take the pictures of the Passenger Train? Is that your trackage? Looks good, who’s ever it is.

Joe, I believe those are Geoff Ringle’s coaches in the ‘Annual’. He let me make mine, then he looked at my work and did a better version! He also won 1st prize at the NNGC this year with his EBT work train. I did the plans for Alan for the baggage/express you see in the pic, and for the combine. Ric - that’s Roger’s RGSEast in MD. Here’s Geoff and some more of the layout. That’s his ‘rock’ hopper train (ganister rock) with his work train behind. Looks like Jack’s Dulles & Reston Garden Weeds RR consist behind that. No idea who owns the gondolas, but my #15 and the Accucraft hoppers is passing right in front of Geoff.

There are a bunch more pics of Geoff’s work and my coaches, plus some more pics on the RGSEast on various pages of http://www.ebt-in-fn3.info/home

I found an inexpensive source at ECLSTS. Nicholas Smith was selling the latest Bachmann coach kits for $25. I bought one for the trucks. (Wholesaletrains.com has them for $38.)

Thanks Pete, I guess I should have recognized the trackage, since I was there with you guys a couple of years ago. However, it was a different angle and I thought you were revealing some new personal trackage.
