Large Scale Central

Erics 2017 MIK project

Fantastic workmanship, you always add the extra details…

John

Well done Eric, looks like I am going just stand way back for pictures of my build after looking at your work. Awesome as always

to “finish up” I added a door at the front and back entry to keep the books from escaping.

I made a simple door knob with a brass escutcheon pin and a peice of strip brass.

and a stone step to get in without undue hardship…

Very nice Eric

You have done your usual , raising the bar

Great post

Dennis

Very nice Eric. Very classy building. Really enjoyed all the wood working going on. Once combined with the uniquely leaning wall base it creates quite a combo. Well Done.

It has been great fun and has stretched my skills a bit too!

True craftsmanship!! I have enjoyed following along. Your eye for detail is up there with the best of them.

Eric,

This is a real work of craftsmanship. It is really very nice work. All the little details you add to your builds is really top notch.

Edited to say oops sorry Eric for giving Shawn credit for your excellent work.

That will make a great addition to an already fine railroad. Nice work Eric

Chris

Nicely Done Eric!!!

Well, Most of the snow is gone…Just a few spots the plow left. The ground is thawed and the sun comes out occasionally. Must be spring! Or mud season as it is known around these parts, anyway it is time to start working outside. I studied on where to place Marion’s Library and finally decided that it would best be re-purposed as a station at Popham. the town had a somewhat down at the heel 1:20 scale station which is a good dozen years old or more. It NEEDED a new station which shows the pride of the towns people. the barn up the hill can continue as the lending library for the town, not that Marion is really too thrilled with keeping the rooster off the stacks.

I spent a sunny afternoon excavating for the new station. the location is across the tracks from the original station so the 7/8"scale building doesn’t overwhelm the 1:20 scale house and barn there. I wanted the station to serve the steamboat dock too so it is directly adjacent to the pier. I had to build up a stone retaining wall which required scrounging some stones from the woods around the house. the building rests on two concrete blocks. the platform is a pressure treated plank cut to match the curve in the main line. Moss will do for a ground cover and a few trees have been transplanted from their old locations around the old station.

The “library” will need a door leading onto the platform and a roof to keep the passengers dry. I for see perhaps a curved platform to match the curve of the track.

Here Marion discusses library donations with the railway management as Moose rumbles by in his chariot.

That’s really nice.

Splendid job, Eric. Maybe the Moose car can be the lending library for the rest of the region?

Jerry

I’ll have to suggest that to Marion, she does get along well with moose. And moose is quite fond of books in his own special way…second only to muffins!

Looks great out on the RR Eric.

Chris

I knew that would look great on your layout, Eric. Sweet.

Just beautiful, Eric!

Fits right in. Nice!

It’s either brightly sunny where you are, David, or are you a movie star now?
