End of a great run

Folks;

After serving Southwest Virginia for 37 years, The Rail Yard Hobby Shop is no more. 97% to 98% of the remaining model train related stock was sold to Trainz.com. Today was my last at the store. Had to say “goodbye” to one of the few (part-time) jobs I really loved. Below is what an empty store looks like. Business was not bad; the owner just thought it was time to end things (We are both in our 80’s.)

P.S. I’ll probably volunteer at the N&W Historical Society Archives a couple of days each week. Old folks have to stay busy, you know.

My LHS is facing the same outcome. closing at the end of January. it was primarily a source of supplies like brass wood, etc, and was only 12 miles up the road.

I have already raided stock for things i can use.

I’m always sad to hear when a shop closes.
