My fellow G1-er Mike’s recently completed GN ‘Empire Builder’ set. Mostly scratch built - and I MEAN scratch-built, not from kits [there aren’t any] using bits and pieces from a J&M Pennsy set. The observation car even has a tiled floor!

He made the decals himself using a complex multiple image transfer process.

First he built the cars, and only then did he build the Aster S2 to haul them. This is the second run since completion.

John - you gots to rememb that I’m the Charlie Brown here. I only take pics of what gets put in front of me.

Next time I’m on the same plane as the folks who own things like this I’ll ask them to take pity on me and do some of the things you ask about.

You are looking at a train costing north of $25K, here, capisce? Add to that that the cars are unique, literally…
