Emergency Maintenance

This just in from the co-lo facility

The web server will be undergoing emergency maintenance tonight starting at 3:30 am EST.

During this time all websites will be unavailable.

We apologize for any inconvenience and will restore the server to service as quickly as possible.

I will check everything when I get up in the morning to see how things are going.

Looking good here at 0630 CDST. No problems encountered.

Yup, seems to have survived the maintenance…

Well…except for me missing my normal 3:30 AM time to check the forums…

Hey Bruce,

If that’s a matter of letting the dog(s) out and back in, yes, I’m familiar with that routine.

Or soothing a fretful infant. I get few uninterrupted nights :frowning: But I don’t check the forums then.

Groan – Ethan was on a 1 hour schedule for 6 months. He finally did outgrow it, but I wondered if Daddy would survive. He’s 13 now.

Chris–TiVo is your friend. I always wondered why Discovery Health ran “Kid’s Health News” at 3:00 am. Now I know.

Tom–Now that Ethan’s 13, I’ll bet daddy’s wondering if Ethan will survive.

I’ve heard two theories…

  1. Infants are cute so you don’t kill them when they’re teenagers;

  2. The possibility of future grandchildren is why you don’t kill them as teenagers.

Either way, good luck. I’ll be asking for advice in another 12 years.

Later,

K

Insanity, you inherit it from your children…

They say grandchildren are your revenge on your children. Unfortunately for that theory, I do a lot of looking after the grandchildren. Grandson #2, with extensive congenital health problems and development delays, lives with us; his mother has his two siblings, with problems of their own. At 4-1/2, going on 2 in some respects, he's still waking in the night. Second time around; it was easier the first time 30+ years ago when I was young and energetic ;) As observed above, it's a good thing they're so cute when they're young ...

I’ve had three grandkids aged 2, 5 and 6 living with me the last year, plus their parents…plus my daughter making appearances (11 going on 18) 8 of us in a house meant for 2-3…it t’was only 'sposed to be a couple weeks…

Bart ,
That makes you sound like a happy well adjusted Grandad from here . Lucky man .

Yup, we went through a similar situation. Twice. I'm still sane. I think.
