To set the record straight; it's me fratulating after a good pot of baked beans, with a quart of bheer chaser, that's causing the problems. I have that for dinner at least once a week.........…then remember while you guys spent all your time arguing; I called and found out what was going on.
I also had the opportunity to have a fine young lady, spend a short time speaking with me.Now; I ask you…who in his right mind these days, with the wonderful, inexpensive long distance rates available; would wait over four weeks, to get a reply to several email messages; then ask here whether there was a problem ?
And to boot; there were more than one of you, that couldn't just simply pick up the good old telephone, and find out. EGADS; no wonder there are communication problems between people in this crazy old world. Thank you; you old farts; for letting me have the pleasure of meeting the young lady.......it only cost me about 25 Canadian cents, for the 15 minute call I send this note with a big smile on my face.....please smile back.!!</blockquote>
Fr. Fred,
In Switzerland we have a saying which loosely translates as: “Oh the good old days, when the air was cleaner and oxen had even larger heads.”
Of course the good old days also included hefty phone bills, but even then - the good old TELEX days, way before FAX - we would pick up the phone when we needed an answer.
Calling at two in the morning to get the yokels at 08:00 was not out of the ordinary.
For what it’s worth, I generally prefer email over phone calls. Mainly because I can send it any time at my convenience, as opposed to calling only during business hours (whatever that may be). And the recipient can respond at leisure as well. Also, when I was a kid long distance calls were expensive and we were raised to avoid them. They may cost less now but the attitude of avoidance is ingrained.
I’m kind of with Ray there on the ingrained “No long distance phone calls”. They were prohibitively expensive when I was a kid. And one to Europe was really a chunk. I think the first 3 minutes was something like $25…back when a weeks good wages was $85. It just sticks with you.

Them was the good old days!
I can call Switzerland or Germany, 20 minutes for Can$1! Or I can do the 9 cents a minute routine, between saying Hello, asking how it’s going, ordering what I want and saying good-bye that’s 45 cents. And the reply from the other end is instant!
I don’t know how other people add it up, but getting aggravated and steamed about no replies is booked at considerably more than that!
But like everything else: to each his own!
I’ve never called Hartford, but I call Aristo and USAT on a regular basis. Quite frankly, after I get off the phone I thank the Gods I don’t live back East. I don’t find either of them overly friendly sounding and quite frankly I’ve gotten hold of one particular lady at USAT that’s just absolutely dreadful. Talking to her can ruin a whole day

Let’s just get a few things straight here .
I emailed a company , and did not get an instant reply --nor did I expect one . I am not one of the “I’m important , you vill answer now , bitte” folk.
Being a patient sort of soul , I left it a week , then sent the email again . No reply , so start checking --ah , yes , it says on their site , “having problems” .So , no point in flogging a dead horse ,be patient , give them chance to sort it .
Sent a further email and still no joy . Obviously something wrong , so post a query here —because I have had contact with them via the same route before .
And it worked . No long phone call to find answers which I know will need research . Also a checkable list of items required .
I do not need the items right away , I am not discomfited , I just plan ahead . No doubt the items will appear in time for required date . And I will not have had to stay up half the night just to make a phone call to the peasants as hans calls them . And it has cost nothing .
Finally , it lets you all see yet again what a pompoius idiot hans is . That alone is worth a lot of aggravation .
OK ???
Mike
Mikey, my lad…I think not…There is a strong probability that your two emails to them were lost. If you keep waiting, and waiting like the patient laddy you are, you may wait forever.
But then you may have heard otherwise.
The last few words you added to your last post, seemed to be unnessesary. They were not in any way worth your typing them using energy you could have used building a model and posting the pictures.
But then…I am not the type to get great pleasure from calling people those sort of names, or getting that upset by someone who has a different view of ME than I do. Sentences like that are what get wars going on forums like this, with no winners ever coming out of them.

Fr. Fred,
Thank you! I couldn’t have put it any nicer!
Back to the long term plan: Ignore.
Thank goodness for that .

Whilst it is still fresh in my mind ,
No reply yet from Hartford models .
Odd , that .
Mike
Like I told you, Mike…when I called Hartford “For you”; they said they “LOST a number of emal messages”. Then on top of that the nice young lady put a message up in the forums to explain their problems.
Get off your arse and telephone…it won’t cost you even a 10th of what it costs to fuel up your oversized vehicle, and will get good results. You might even enjoy talking with the fine young lady. !!!
