Large Scale Central

Electrical Substation

EXHIBIT D: The cage.

Had some scrap pieces of plexiglas. Now I have an electric jungle gym. This is the pre-paint image. Hard to see what little detail there is when everything is clear, but I think you’ll get the idea. I don’t think the paint’s gonna dry before leaving for ECLSTS. So, it probably won’t make the trip. It definitely needs more gizmos. Stay tuned…

-Kevin.

That cage might need extended for what I have for you.

Uh oh!

-Kevin.

I like how you have taken 1:1 gizmos and turned them into scale gizmos and they look like they are the real thing. At least to my untrained eye.

Devon,

That is the essence of modeling, to give the illusion of realism.

For your entertainment I risked another beating from the Queen and stole some of her craft beads to make the insulators that run along the top of the electric jungle gym.

Todays mystery question is worth 5 points*: Guess what I used to make the insulators that are on the front of the cage?

-Kevin.

*Points expire immediately and have no monetary value. Subject to certain local, state, and federal restrictions. Actual points may vary based on current market conditions which fluctuate based on: interest rates, international price index, prime lending rates, the current state of track power versus battery power, and the cost of brass track. Certain local and regional laws may apply. Not available in all states. Failure to claim all accumulated points may result in severe fines and other penalties. Please check all state and local laws for restrictions and a list of penalties. All taxes, fees and tariffs are the sole responsibility of the winner. Not available in New Jersey (Sorry Shawn).

They look like either rollers of some kind or doorknobs…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Thats a easy one, those are painted push pins. Its amazing how many things we use daily that can be incorporated in to out model building. Nice job so far. Waiting to see the completely project.

Push pins! You guys are sharp (get it… sharp… push pins? Never mind).

Saw the power plant first hand at the gathering of idiots Drag-n-Brag. Very nice work. Although not as cool as the Sasquatch car, the power plant is 100% less annoying  Again fantastic work with the pieces and parts!

Thanks Terry. You know, if I had any kind of brain in my head, I’d take some video of my Sasquatch car and put it on youtube. That way I could still annoy everyone with it for years and years…

-Kevin.

Think what would happen if that video got into the “Wrong Hands” !!

I have never seen the Sasquatch car myself.

Maybe someone at the Drag and Brag took some video of it? You gotta see it to believe it and I don’t have the youtube resources for any show and tell.

Exhibit F: WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE

-Kevin.

It is all coming together quite nicely Kevin. Looks superb.

As a person who worked for Edison for 30 years in Substations I can say your very close on design and its one of the better stations I have seen. When you add wire keep the phases together and don’t cross phase, this is the biggest mistake I see on layout. On your 4 breakers give them a 1/4 turn and the bushings will be correct. Your doing a great job.

Hehehe…your gonna make me break my 8,888 post #

You did not gut that DI cassette! If you did and the are the round coils in the middle how hard was it to remove the epoxy?

Distant cousin Bob

Look close …if he adds 12volts and a trigger source he can make some arching as well !!
