Editing Digital Movies

So does anyone have any ideas about cheap (read free) and easy to decipher video editing software? I’d like to be able to string clips together, and edit out non pertinent details, and add perhaps a music overlay?

If you are using Windows XP you can get Windows Movie Maker for free from M$. It will do what you want, I believe. Ralph

If you have Service Pack 2 or later installed on your XP machine, you very likely have MovieMaker already.

You’ll need a way to get the video data from your camcorder to your PC. If you need to cable the data in, get a FireWire (i.e., IEEE 1394) card. Card + cable should set you back less than fifty bucks.

I know this is an old post but did you ever get what you wanted? And yes, the Windows Movie Maker should work just fine. But you need XP Pro, it doesn’t come with the Home edition. And as Dave pointed out, the version that comes with SP2 is much much better than the version before SP2 came out.

Jon.

Naw you don’t need XP pro i have xp home edition and that works just fine, just download movie maker from windows and give it a try. The Regal

Actually yeah I got it to work finally…
