Large Scale Central

ECLSTS vendor info?

The Alcove, and The Drag & Brag were always basically organized by Ric Golding, and Jan. I was slightly involved in the Drag & Brag, at its conception, up until about 4 years ago…maybe 5…I have lost track of the years. I have no knowledge of LSC having anything officially to do with any financing or planning of these events.

Both have successfully, become considered, as LSC “Supported Events”. LSC has benefited somewhat, over the years, from their success, as venues for developing friendships, and sharing knowledge, in a most enjoyable atmosphere; possibly gaining some new members during these events.

The collection jar provided for the costs of the room at the Holiday Inn/Windham, and any surplus was donated to a charity of Jan and Ric’s choosing…several years it went to a Humane Society, to benefit small animals.

Someone, someday might tell the tales of the old days, and “The Rodent Parties”, bowling league women, blessings of engaged couples, Free bheer from an American brewery, the Vogel one man band…The Aristo bear…etc, etc…a forerunner of “The Drag & Brag”…

What fun we have enjoyed, and can hopefully enjoy in the future…

Fred Mills

The Drag and Brag Room is for the weekend before and actually under contract. We will look in to that Monday or maybe Tuesday. Monday is already filling up and it is only Saturday. Largescalecentral and Bob has under written the cost of the Drag and Brag Room, if it was ever needed. The generosity of those that attend have ALWAYS covered all the cost. I suspect things will continue and be established and resolved as time gets closer. Panic has not entered the picture. I am well and spent the whole day at a grandaughters’ basketball tournament. Things are chilly here in Carlyle, but warming. 81 degrees is the local temp at 5pm, but that has nothing to do with the temperature at my house/truck/duplex. Good… as you are getting to old for that!

Thank you Ric…

I’m sorry to have given the impression of a panic situation. I was just concerned that a lot has been put on your shoulders over the years, and it seems to appear that no-one local has been ready to jump in and help shoulder some of the responsibilities.

The Drag & Brag, and the Alcove, are most important “Institutions” in the life of LS in Eastern North America.

Thank you to those that may be supportive, behind the scenes…

No problem, glad this actually came to the surface, I had totally forgot the contract on the Drag and Brag Room. As stated, we will resolve this next week.

When I talked to Dan at Star Hobby, he said that the Fairgrounds changed the date on him. It was at the last show advertised as the week before. I was just told that Passover starts at sundown that Friday. This should be a real test if this will survive.

Ric & Jan or Timesaver, which will I miss more? Both. It will not be the same. We all have other commitments at times. Guess we will sit in chairs at the alcove and stare at each other.

Interesting discussion guys.

Bummer that the show is on Easter again; weird that Easter Sunday is also April Fools day…

Anyway, this is all a good reminder to get our reservations in to the Wyndham! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Gee, we do that sometimes anyway. When I am part of the group of sitters, Andy stares at me with the “I ate one too many lemons” look.

The “DRAG and BRAG” has been saved from the bowels of despair. All is well! The contract was changed from March 23, 2018 to March 30, 2018. Friday Night of the East Coast Large Scale Train Show is the time to gather and show whatcha brought, bought or wanted and didn’t get but built one just like it, or see what others have brought or enjoy the company. No reservations required.

.

Please show up, please donate to the cause, please be nice to each other, please enjoy yourself. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

.

Jan is the one to thank, I just relay the messages.

.

I still can’t spend another Easter in York, PA

sure would like to have a finished tower skidded for the drag and brag, but my bench projects are getting pretty deep with other stuff ahead of it.

Thanks for arranging all that Ric, and thanks to Jan as well.

We’ll miss you, for sure.

That sounds like an epic story-telling event Fred! Are you coming? If so, I’d like to suggest a time slot be set aside for some great yarn-spinning!

The gestapo has spoken Uncle Ric! I’m SORRY I did not have my papers in order last year. Perhaps I could sweet talk Aunt Jan?

Editing : as I just realized I’m probably headed to the Eastern Front for even suggesting it!

As I recall, the rodents were no longer welcome after they drank all the beer…

Or maybe they thought the good Friar was after them…

Does a trombone constitute a band???

Of course, this could be the other reason that the rodents no longer visit…

Hmmm …It looks like alcohol is involved … (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Not anymore…the rodents got it all. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif)

Luckily we had Fred to restock the beer…

…and there in pictures are the future bride and groom, after being presented with “Branch Railroadian style” blessings…Bart was also warned of the "Unknown " future…!!

No-one has ever commented on the fact (Supposedly) that when a “Friar” of the Branch Railroadian Fellowship (Not a religion) has his hood over his head, he does not care to speak, and is in deep “Contemplation”…who knew…but the bheer did flow, and everyone had a great time.

Bart in later years was offered the “Archy-Bishophood” post for the area around Fort Gay, and everywhere West of Ken Brunt’s home, but he has never actively occupied the the position…the position mainly involves sitting, while contemplating, on an "Archy-Bishop’s " bench.

…he did have a bench; pictured by some sort of Water Feature in his back yard, by the side of his railroad tracks.

All part of the fun of the past…when we all laughed, shared dreams, quaffed a few bheers, and just plain, had a great time…FRIENDS, and GREAT ONES, ALL.

Thank you, Bruce, for kindly posting those pictures.
