For those of you that have never been to the Timonium Show, this is the first room you see upon entering.

Then this is the room off to the left.

This is the room to the right looking from the back to the front of the building. This is where they have activities for the kids.

So it’s a BIG place, I wonder how much of it we will be able to fill?
Thanks for posting those Lou. I was at the all-scales train show there yesterday (with Jerry and our buddy Dwight), and was again struck by the enormity of the place.
So… WARNING! This is all just FWIW, which may be zero! I’m merely conveying what’s publicly viewable, and offering a few personal comments.
That disclaimer out of the way… I’ve been wondering the same thing as Lou. So out of curiosity, I went to http://www.marylandstatefair.com/general-info/facilities to check square footage, and here’s what they say:
The Cow Palace is easily the most versatile building on the Fairgrounds. It covers 158,400 square feet overall. The Cow Palace is divided into three distinct areas/sections - 24,000 square feet, 62,400 square feet and 72,000 square feet.
For a comparison with York’s Memorial Hall, I went to http://yorkexpo.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/MAIE-MemHall-proof.pdf, which says the hall…
“features two separate exhibit areas (over 58,000 square feet).” Reading further, the size of the two exhibit halls totals to 57,466 SF.
Since Memorial Hall wasn’t really filled this year, ~58ksf seemed a little too ample. And I can’t imagine that Star would wan’t to rent an additional 100ksf beyond that. So maybe they would want to arrange for the center hall (first of Lou’s pics), because that’s the main branch-point for the left and right halls, and has the concessions area at its rear. And if the smaller exhibition hall is rented as well, that’s 86,400 square feet – double what is probably really needed.
So, maybe we won’t need the full cow palace, but will only get the smaller hall, and hopefully the concessions area of the center hall… Anyway, Star’s got some challenging choices to make, especially if vendors are less committal than in earlier years.
Regardless, I hope we can support their effort as best we can; and if only part of the CP is used, it’ll still be HUGE, and very much worth attending!
My 2 cents,
