[Though I posted this on a related thread, I’m reposting here since this seems to be the main thread on the subject]

Great fun at the D&B tonight! I’m sorry that i don’t have pictures to share, but from my perspective it was great to solidify a few relationships, and make some new ones. Truly great folks we have in this hobby, and it was so fun talking to y’all.

Thanks to all who made it happen.

Show was toned down this year as expected on a holiday weekend. Tomorrow is another day though and if takes new vendors to keep the show going then so be it! I thank those that have kept the show going and hope it will continue!

Penny, the lady at the door who takes the tickets, told me the attendance was good, much more then she expected. And she was happy to see all the children that were there. Hopefully some seeds were planted, that will sprout future large scale railroaders.

We tried our best to buy everything in sight! Even stuff I had no idea I wanted but my wife told me we did!

Vin your wife is a keeper

BUT…did anyone take any pictures; check on Generation Next; check on Crest R/C…please, report on the show, for us less fortunate, that could not attend…it would be greatly appreciated…thank you…

Was great seeing everyone although I missed some people who weren’t able to make it.

The D & B was as usual, awesome. Thanks Ric for setting it up.

Friday morning the vendor hall looked crowded, with lots of product going out the door, although it thinned out in the afternoon. Lots of disappointed people who didn’t get t-shirts. The xl’s and xxl’s sold out quick. Guess they’re hinting I need to go on a diet.

All and all I had a great time. Now its time to start working on my pike.

Pat

If anyone was looking for track this was the show to get it at, there was a ton of it from many manufacturers. Unlike the last few shows you had your choice of brass, stainless and aluminum.
Plenty of wide radius switches (all brand new) at the show, Piko even had a lot of wide radius curved switch tracks which looked really nice, and they were selling pretty good seeing many people walking around with them.

Great show. Can’t wait till next year.

For Mr Ames as you asked

Thanks

Now I understand

Stan

Twins?

Yes, really good show this year. Was a little strange to have the home improvement section in the back of the hall, but whatever it takes to make the show feasible. There was only a little bit of O scale and just a few boxes of HO, so still 95% Large scale. It was also very encouraging to see Clem there and very much his self. He reported that he is going to start operation out of his garage from home and already has a good dent in setting it up.

Now I’m going to post these two shots of things being set up in the alcove to settle some questions some may have as to who is getting things done. They were taken only a few seconds apart and clearly show who is on the move getting things done. Way to do it Ric! ECLSTS 1 2016

ECLSTS 2 2016

From left to right are: Lou and Ric Deciding on next actions, Andy overseeing in the back ground, Jane talking to my son and wife Ryder and Mariann while Jan & Deb have discussions of their own. Lastly while not displaying Ric’s bullet like movement John is fiddling away out front getting that track connected.

Drag & Brag 2016

Here is a shot of the drag and brag taken about 9:30. Again another excellent D&B with plenty of great discussion and beverage. My most exciting purchase out of the few I made at the show came at the D&B when I was alerted to to the two EBT box car kits that Bruce had for sale. I was really excited to get these. The D&B went strong right up to the end at 11:00, and I’m positive everyone walked away with a smile on their face.

Great time can’t wait for next year!

Pictures for Fred and y’all…

As a sign guy I had to take this shot. I’ve been coming or over 10 years and never saw this one before. Too bad I couldn’t get the modern crap out of the shot without getting run over…

David Russell contemplates accepting Bobs advice on how to be a better netizen…

Eric Shade poses with his cool hand car, My Porter #3 and Lou’s PRR commuter cars…

At “The Diner” - Jan Golding, Jane and Andy Clarke and Ken Brunt are still in a good mood before the 90 minute wait for food…

Ric is intrigued with the ‘selfie’ feature of my Point & Shoot…

Ken Brunt, Deb and Stan Ames. Don’t know who all the folks are in the background…

Thanks to the quick service at the diner we arrived at the Drag & Brag about 8PM where the party was in full swing. My memory for names is horrible, so I can use some help. I sat next to the fellow in the middle from the Finger Lakes Live Steamers but his name has escaped me. Andy and Bruce Chandler on the outside…

Terry Burr and Bob “BD” McCown in the background, Pat McCarty with the WM T-shirt. Not sure of the rest…

I’m not even going to attempt this one except for Gary Buchannan right foreground…

Candid shots are not always the most flattering! Randy Lehrian on the left and Terry Burr on the right. Not sure of the center…

More selfie fun with my POS camera. It’s Rooster!

I made no inquiries at Crest or Polk’s GenNext. They were both represented and there was a lot of track product with the new Polk logo at all the major dealers. I too was happily surprised to see how much track was available. I do think attendance was way down. In fact, Saturday morning there were very few non-vendor/club members wandering the layout hall.

Tk’s for some photos Like Fred said, need photos.

We are kind of stuck here on west coast. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Too cool.

Wow. Lots of fun at the Drag and Brag. Of course I’m just a bit prejudiced since THAT is what I drive up for…we skipped the show this year and I don’t think we missed it at all.

As always, the D&B starts off a bit slow…

Here, some Daktah guy pre-empts my display with his gorgeous work…

And although Mik couldn’t attend due to previous commitments, he was absolutely there in spirit…

(So, yes, there are some excuses for non-attendance that are apparently accepted…)

Later, the attendance ramped up a bit more…

A grand time indeed. Well worth the trip. Some really great models on display and some fairly good folks as well. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)I’ll be back!

For some reason my wife said this is what we needed, a 500lb cement train!

Vinnie’s wife got away with the only concrete 3 piece train set! ----------- at a bargain.

(And she didn’t pay me to say that)

I got a few of the show cars from different shows that I was missing. When we went to Atlanta there was a train show and I got 2 of the 2006 SELSTS Show cars. Also some little stuff like mailboxes, metal wheels, track clamps, and a log cabin for the layout.

I enjoyed the friendship more this year for some reason. Had more time to talk to old friends and make some new ones.

No Fall Show.

Spring Show will be March 24 & 25 2017.

Great to see you again Lou! I missed a few others, but what a good time! Well worth the trip.

Has anybody else noticed that Lou looks a bit different than his picture??? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)
