As seen from far Northern California (the hopefully, future great state of Jefferson) The Annular Solar Eclipse occurred over Northern California this evening and was a very spectacular event. This is when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth in a dead center position and at total eclipse leaves a full ring of light around the shadow of the moon. Anyway I took a few pictures as we were watching the event using welding hoods with #14 glass and it was still too uncomfortable to look at for more than a few seconds at a time. I took pictures of the eclipse through the welding hood lens but they were rather disappointing however some of the shadow pictures came out rather well. As the eclipse was about half way into full we noticed this shadow pattern, cast by the Oak trees, on the house wall. Notice that the horseshoe shaped lights are all turned up.

At full eclipse the light marks are all full circles on the wall.

As the eclipse is waning notice that the light marks are all crescents turned downward.

The shadows cast across the driveway apron. The dogs were really upset and stressed by this event, they knew that something out of the ordinary was happening.

The shadow pattern on the back of the barn.

It was quite an extraordinary event and we enjoyed the evening very much. Hope you like the pictures. Rick
