Howdy
I’ve fielded a bunch of emails about doing a second run of acrylic parts for the EBT boxcar. How many of you are interested in getting some more, or getting into it if you missed the first round?
EMail me and let me know.

Bob,
Could you post a set of pictures of the parts that might become available? It might be nice to see all that’s available in one spot. Thanks,
JimC.
Yes, I would like to make some.
I would be interested. How much would the acrylic panels for the car cost?
I’ll have to think about it… Six might hold me for awhile…I might be boxcar’d out… But…you can look forward to something like this:
A great set of instructions…which you can read before you even get started. To me, the hardest part of scratchbuilding is getting everything square and cut to size. This is so neat to have the basic body ready to go. The rest is pretty straight forward, though it does take time. As long as you measure and cut carefully you’ll end up with a very nice model.
I still would like to know when the 2nd ones come around. About 6 cars.
I am interested in 5 or 6, if and when it happens. i really like the look of them and followed the first post through. I tried to get some acrylic cut out here but it became all too hard.
thanks
Dave
Aaron. The acrylic comes to $20 per car… the rest of the styrene depends on how full a parts box you have.
Styrene fer 2 cars is right at $30…
How much size difference would there be if I used them with my LGB? It looks like a great project!
I think you would notice a fair difference in size…especially between box cars. But then again some folks don’t care.
I guessed there would be a 10 percent difference but maybe I’ll build one and just see.
It wouldn’t be too difficult to adjust the size of the pieces to match the 1:22 scale stuff. A little trimming and sanding should take care of that. It’s still going to go together the same way and use the same parts…just adjust downward a little bit.
Thanks Warren. I’m ready to build.
Bob,
Will this worthwhile project proceed? Thanks.
Let me tally up how many people have asked for, and see if there are enough for a second order…
Nice Boxcars. What can you tell me about the bridge it’s sitting on?
Thanks. That’s just a Garden Metal Models bridge…4 feet, I think. I glued my own ties and guard rails on to it, then spiked down some code 250 rail on top.
Well, I’m almost ready to put the finishing touches on three more of the steel boxcars. These will actually be lettered for the EBT, including a replacement for #181 which I traded for one of Rich Yoder’s hoppers at York last year.
When complete, I will have built 9 of these, and I’m still very impressed with the instructions and how nice these cars look. The second run, with all the markings, sure make things easier to line up.
Thanks, Bob, for a great kit.
