EBT Boxcar build thread

Chuck Inlow said:
I can build either way as I have lots of wood and 2 sheets (4'x 8') of .080 styene, but I was hoping these were going to be the boxcars with the steel castings on the ends and wood sides. I have 4 sets of castings I want to use.
Bruce has a short writeup here.

I should do a build article on them, too.

Not to mention this old post: http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=6882 Has some input from multiple folks… They ARE nifty looking cars

Bob,

The last kits I got from you were the early ones without scribe lines & grab iron holes. If you can include the dimensional data again, I’m sure it would help the folks that I gave those kits to. Geoff

Geoff: Righto. I think the instructions in the article are for the first generation, but Ill make sure I have the measurements. The ones Im building are 1st gen, too, since I sold all the 2nd gen!

Cool, I have two more 1st gen to build for myself.

Geoff

Hey Bob,

Whats the difference between the 2 generations that you guys are talking about? All I have are the cast end plates.

Chuck

Two different car types. Bob is discussing updating his build log for the EBT all steel boxcar. It was an acrylic “kit” that you need to provide various plastic angles and tees and zees to complete. It scales to 34 feet in 1:20.

The cast end plates were not part of a kit; it was up to the buyer to build something between them.

Updated up through page 5. All the underbody assembly instructions are correct and documented.

Updated the article through page 6, the end beams. I re-did the photos, and changed the text to reflect changes in construction that I encountered after the article was written.

Good to see it back! Though that last picture on page 2 makes my eyes go crazy.

AH, hm… thought I had re-taken that one, too.

Getcher glasses fixed. Looks fine to me! :stuck_out_tongue:

Up through page 7, Car Ends, done.

Through page 9, car sides, and basic roof.

Only 13 pages left! Way to go. We’re counting on you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Up to page 10, roof battens.

Bob,

Last time I looked the “Shopping” process wasn’t working, so I couldn’t get one of your kits - though I would like one! (Or two.)

It still won’t let me create a login/password. What’s the current scoop?

Yea, shopping got broken with some changes a while ago. Im not sure what I have for kits left, lemme dig around.

Up through page 11, roofwalk.

Thank’s Bob I did get the email thank’s again that will help a lot. Can’t what to see what you are building. I am sure I will have to give it a try.
