We were ballasting track yesterday at Rog’s and he hadn’t seen my #12, so mid-afternoon I fired her up and took a spin around the mainline. Here’s the couple of pics I grabbed between reaching for the throttle! [RGSEast is pretty hilly, and the r/c installation isn’t finished, so you have to be on your toes and throttle down for the downgrades and up for the uphills.]
Nice pics Pete.
Beautiful weathering job, too.

That is a great looking engine.

Cool! Ya gotta do something with that smokebox, though. That graphite just ain’t right… And now that I keep looking at photos of yours and looking at mine, I’m gonna have to widen those running boards. Their narrowness is simply too noticeable to me.

Pete,
Thanks for posting, I look forward to seeing it at York in the Spring.
Kevin, I agree that photo makes the smokebox look a bit light - these show it usually looks darker! I still need to touch-up to top of the boiler, so I’ll probably run some darker paint over the smokebox. Yes, we’ll be at Scranton in February, but not Cabin Fever (York) as FL beckons… Here’s a couple of pics from this weekend - the official meet.
Geoff was running his beautiful EBT #14. He wasn’t too happy about my live steam, but the ‘chuffer’ kept the discharges under control.

At the end of the day, I ran back to the depot and opened the blowdown to relieve the steam pressure in the boiler:
I also put a composite video on Youtube, including #12 starting a 12 car train on the 3% hill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4wKet2wX9k
Good stuff. Nice looking engine. Cant wait to see it in Scranton.
When I go to heaven, I hope the GFO lets ME play with trains like that.

Very nice. The “blow down” photo is very well composed. Impressive stuff!!

Loved the video. Thanks!
