Hi Guys;
Here is a car that I believe is the same as the one in the Lionel 0-6-0 Delton set:
Looks like 1:24 scale is becoming very valueable !

Norman,
no connection with Lionel. The basic body style is as the now deceased Aristo-Craft ‘Classic’ range gondola. The price reflects the roadname rarity.
Obviously, what something is worth is what someone will pay, rare or not. This looks like a standard Delton gondola with Uintah lettering but certainly not prototypical.
Going through Harry Bender’s "Uintah Railway the only gondolas mentioned or pictured were drop bottom gons. Maybe there were 4 board ones, but nary any mention. The road numbers 400-415 were stock cars.
FYI Ted
This is just as ridiculous if not more so:
etc. etc.; two more he has on Buy It Now.
Of course, it looks stupidly ridiculous to most of us…right up until someone forks over that kind of money, then it isn’t ebay insanity, it’s buyer insanity.
Like this is one of his completed listings!
Seriously, $600?
I don’t begrudge these guys whatever they can get because I am real, real happy when someone way overbids on something I’m selling, but it does sort of get on my nerves when their Buy It Now prices are so goofy.
EDIT: Seriously? Apparently YES! Somebody bought it…
Here are some more;
Free shipping. How can you go wrong!!
No free shipping on this one. This guy’s after every dime.
I know there is someone out there willing to fork over the list price on just about anything. Like those who pay sticker price for a car. They have their reasons.

Now that’s some modeling. Shoe boxes, craft paper and rubber gas hose.
I particularly love this part - “Battery Pack not included. (See photo for battery pack connection type) Suggested batteries can be found here: http://www.all-battery.com/nimhnicdpacks24v-60v.aspx (Note: The lower the battery volt, the slower the speed of the BART train. The higher the battery volt, the faster the speed of the BART train.)”
I wonder how fast it will go with a 60 volt battery?

Ha Ha Ha…the guy in the first one didn’t even bother removing the bar codes on his stock or the stock number on the hose!! That’s some kind of modelling.
Now, the second guy, well, he’s turned down ten offers…maybe of $95, $125, and $80, maybe who knows?
It would be more beneficial if you guys would post eBay deals
Maybe not as entertaining…,

I have!
Bachmann Forney NIB for $250.00
Aristo SD45 for $95.00
Posted both!
Problem is the good deals disapear in minutes whereas the bad deals hang around stinking up the place like rotting cheese!

Ralph, I have a beneficial idea in addition to yours:
I have posted a couple of my own good deals here on large scale before I put them up on ebay if they don’t sell here.
However, there is something entertaining about the more ridiculous ebay pricing in a shake-your-head-and-laugh kind of way.
Hi John:
I had posted my LGB Disney Forney on burnsland.com at 400.00 NIB and no takers for almost a year.
Then once I “traded” it in at a hobby dealer everyone wants the thing.
Strange world.

RATS!!!
Picked up 2 Lionel Milwaukee ore cars for $29.99 today…Let an LGB 2-bay SF coal hopper go by for the same (I have too much, need to moderate).

Norman, my story is somewhat the opposite. I posted a locomotive set here in the forum and got no takers at $375 so I lowered the price to $300; still no takers so I gave up and put it on ebay and…bingo…it sold for two bucks short of $600.
It was close to insane, but it was a nice set. Oh yeah.
I’m not complaining.
Ebay is funny and things can go for nutty prices. Another phenom I have noticed is when something rare comes through chances are one just like it will follow it. I think the second seller sees a piece like the one he has collecting dust go for big money then says why not sell it?
I was looking for a particular car close to 5 years and one finally came across the bay, I bought it and sure enough next week anothe appeared. Weird.
If something sells for too much money it means at least 2 people want it.
To sell another at an insane price, it takes a third person wanting it.
Remember Nemo toytrain car selling for $999, then 4 weeks later a second for only $300, then a third for less than $200, all of which were way too high!! I got both the Nemo and Dumbo for less than $100 total. Of course these are avvailable for the insane price of 1,000 for the pair HE HE HE.
