Scott,
Nice job on the Davenport. Cat gold makes such a wonderful canvas for weathering with ink to bring out details. Here’s a “dirtied-up” used crawler sitting on a Bachmann flat.

Looking good guys. It is amazing how a few detail pieces and well placed “DIRT” can really bring a model to life.
Decaled Davenport for the Yellow Pine lumber Co.
My logging consist built from a 180.00 Bachmann Lumberjack set with only additional part being a Bachmann flat car for modifying the bobber in to a MOW caboose. An example that proves you do not need millions of dollars to enjoy large scale model railroading.

That is Sweet! Thanks for sharing-Now I’m even more inspired!
That’s the end of this thread for me, as Flatt and Scruggs used to say on the Beverly Hillbillies song “…would like to thank you folks for kindly dropping in.”
I read over the threads from other modellers talking about their battery power this, and their stainless steel track that, and their DCC decoders with umpty-seven sound effects that they probably can’t remember which button works what and their ability to run multiple trains on a track at one time all making different sounds…and…bullshhit! This project for me was “Old School”.
Me and quite a few of my buddies here in western North Carolina run basic track power, we have simple sound cards in some of our engines and we run track power and you know what? It works just freakin’ fine!!! I clean my brass track with a Scotch Brite pad about 3 times a year and my trains run around with no problems whatsoever. Don’t believe all the BS. If you’ve been thinking of getting involved in Large Scale trains but are intimidated and haven’t made up your mind…go for it. This project was for me personally but i think it shows what you can do in Large Scale on a budget.
Scott yes you can do it on a budget. I am a cheep person, so I am always looking for deals and I make stuff I need when I can.
Nice work Scott.
