Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad

This was my ride last night

The Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad #328 assisted by the #329 behind.

After starting my day at work @6am I get a call from my friend Jerry, who is a fellow train club member, and says are you up for a train ride. This was about 2:30PM. Drop what your doing and be in Cheney, WA by 4:00PM. So I head to Cheney. I met Jerry who is the engineer and Simon, the conductor, and we take a car ride to Davenport, WA. to relieve the day shift crew. The mission was to take a load of empty grain cars 50 miles west to Hartline, WA. We had for drops to make in route. When we get to Davenport, there were two ex Montana Raillink SD45-2 waiting to go. It was slow going with winter being hard on the road we had several speed restrictions. Most of the distance was covered at between 10 and 15 mph. It was a great ride. I didn’t get a lot of photos because it was dark. We got done dropping our last load and tying down the locomotives at a little after midnight. 2 and a half hours back to Cheney. Home and in bed by a little after 3:30 am. I am tired. Thanks to the crew of the EWG for a fun evening.

Sounds like you had a great time Devon.

Cool!

Nice ride Devon. They’re just sucking up to get to use your snowshed when it’s in. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I tell they might need it. I saw where they had to punch through some pretty deep snow drifts. And all they have to do that with is the plow on the pilot. No other snow equipment

SO Devon… Ya Hooked on the cab time yet?

Oh sure i am. Would there be any doubt. I follow trains by car and watch them do what they do on the side lines for hours. To actually go with them while they do it, yeah I enjoyed it. Hopefully that’s not my last ride. He hinted at a daytime run

You lucky dog you. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
