Mr Goldings Timesaver was a hit with this young man and the kid did excellent under the watchful eye of Doug…to me that’s what it’s all about even if the kid did play hookie from school…

My favorite is Andy talkin’ smack! His Auto rack was awesome even though he hurt my feelings many times through out the day (not really) I totally enjoyed his company along with the others ;)…I had a blast and was thrilled to put faces to you guys!

David -

It was great to meet. I really enjoyed talking trains and cars with you. I’m not even going to ask what the plan is for those candid shots of Bruce

I enjoyed meeting all the “New faces”", along with the old ones again… If I could only do one show a year, I do believe, it would be the Spring York show… Granted, there are not that many ““used Equipment”” dealers there, ther are dealers like ““Trainworld & Nickhals Smith””, who are discount sellers. Aristo Sponsers the show, so all their yearly “sepcails”" are in effect on items bought during the show…

There are deals to be made, if you look for them, depending on what you are modeling… I was looking for some covered hoppers and came home with 5 of them… With the Discount of 10 bucks from train world, via their website, the cost me 50 bucks each, even tho they were LGB… Later in the weekend, prices were starting to drop…

Someone mentioned that this is in no way like going to an HO scale show… True, it’s not, but there are almost 3 or 4 times, at least, the amount of HO dealers, versus G scale dealers, not to mention, maufacturers…

A train show is what you make of it… York, to me, is a meeting of good friends, not usually seen the rest of the year, except for the internet, meeting new friends probably for the first time, a good supply of G-scale products available, ohhhhhhh, and lets not forget the ““Diner””, which still has great food, no mattter what name it is called…

Ric managed to make me buy so much stuff, we couldn’t see out the rear windows of the van coming home, so, to me… It was a great deal…

However, the ““Highlight”” of this trip, was on Sunday… Enjoying the hospitality of friends to view their layouts and projects, that I had only previously seen in pictures, or articles on the internet… Seeing these layouts in person, is a joy like no other… Pictures may say a thousand words, but seeing them in person is a true treasure…

Thank you Ken & your wife (Can’t remember her name), for your hospitality and food…
Thank you Bruce & Jean, for the enjoyment of visiting your layout…
We visited another layout, but I can’t remember whose it was, but it was a beautiful layout…

I’m not listing the “new” and old frineds I met, because I would hate to leave out someone’s name, but, thank you all for a great weekend…

Dave, Many apologies, how could I have forgotten such a good name !
Bobby a newcomer to the trainshow circuit commented that it seemed like I knew a lot of the folks at the show. It got me to thinking and I started writing down names. 28 total, 18 members of our local club the Lehigh Valley Large Scalers,5 guys from LSC and 5 fellows from Clems narrow gauge module. The fellowship of train lovers is what makes the shows fun!!!

You were heading to Roger Cutters when you left my house and then to Bruce’s. And I’m glad you guys made it home all right.

BTW, her name is Bev and don’t worry, she had you guys names all mixed up too. She thought Andy ran the marina, Ric was from St Louis, Jan was your wife, Jane was Bob’s wife, and I was in stitches trying to explain it all to her…As for the visit, the pleasure all mine Andy.

it wasn’t an hour after you guys left that the sun came out and it got up to about 70…

Another BTW, my son Kevin tried the bottle of barbecue sauce Jan left with us and he wants a case of it next time I see Jan…

Ya know, that is an adequate AutoRack, and a passable TOFC.

Who is the guy with the Camo hat on?

:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s Andy, the producer of said
AutoRack" and 'TOFC"… He has a kitchen full of TOFC’s with fighter planes as loads…now that’s Kewl!

Hey Andy, the autorack model you scratch built has always impressed me every time I see it on the forums. I remember reading you said you got the plans from an HO model out of a Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. Could you tell me which issue this is? I have done some research and I believe it came out of April of 2003. Could you confirm this for me? Thank you

Also looks like the show was a fun time. Wish I lived closer! = / (Albany, NY)

Dan, I wish I can remember which issue it was… During moving processes, the issue got mixed in with about 300 other magazine issues, and I just haven’t had the time to go thru them… I only got the chassis schematic from the magazine, the sides and top, i got the dimensions from an HO scale model… The issue was an older issue, as I built the autorack some 5 years ago now, and i had to go back quite a few issues to locate the blueprints… The blueprints were only for an older version of a TOFC…

Try this site listed above and click the type autorack, then click the pdf files…

Dan, Andy, the plans are in the November 1998 issue of Model Railroader, pages 96-100. I have the issue if you can’t get your hands on it.

I used a color copier to blow the pages up to 1:29. It’s a nice option to have the prints to scale when you are making something like this.

Edit: The Automax plans are in the December 1999 issue of Model Railroader, pages 126-130.

Jon.

Thank you both so much for the information. I am looking for the plans and might buy the back issues if they are available. I think they might be. If it isn’t a problem, maybe you could send me a copy of the plans if I can’t get a copy of both issues. Thanks again to both Andy and Jon.
