It’s even worse than that in the DC area…but this sums it up:
Bread, milk and toilet paper all disappear from grocery shelves in the days leading up to a storm. Lines form at the gas stations and all the meteorologists are breathless over the approaching storm.
On XM radio a personality came to the conclusion bread milk and eggs arre flying off shelves, so the one thing you need to survive a SNOWMAGEDDON is, French Toast. The man who said that grew up in Vermont, but now lives in N Carolina so he thinks its kinda funny, but is smart enough to where he is not driving because he would be the only one in control of his vehicle.
Pete, yes. I went out this morning and the number of cars, stuck at weird angles in the road, was unnerving. This is Pittsburgh, we get snow every winter, and those folks don’t know how to drive in it???
Oh well, every year I wait for the first good snowfall to chase those folks off of the roads. Then for the rest of the winter most folks out there know how to drive. Then, with the first day of spring, the idiot drivers are in bloom again.
What we got here in Pittsburgh isn’t all that remarkable. Its not a blizzard here, not like the ones we had when I was younger. Its a healthy snowfall, but its no foot of snow.
Wow this storm is harder on some more than others
That must be tough with such stubby arms
It’s just barely started here. A dusting on the ground and nice fluffy flakes floating down. Sure is pretty from inside (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

Ah, a dusting sure sounds nice.
This is the top of my yardstick. I had to pull it up a bit so it would show in the picture.
We are getting hit hard now. Blizzard warnings just went up. Operations will resume tomorrow. Just a minor inconvenience.
So far it’s just a nice little snow fall here. View out my windows…
Shawn,
Steam melts snow, you should have no problems.
Kevin
Sun’s shinning real nice here in Buffalo. Supposed to hit 40 by tomorrow. Gonna take off my shirt and wash the truck out in the driveway. Feeling kinda tropical for this time of year. Not really sure what all the fuss is all about. You wanna see snow… I’ll show you snow! Call me if you need anything. -Kevin.
I hear ya Kevin. This was my friend Art’s house not very far from you after the big 2014 storm…
The snow is still coming down, but it’s blowing a LOT, so the town doesn’t look too much different from this morning. I want that dusting!

I guess you’ll have to head up to Jon’s…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Snow was up to the top of the front shroud on the snowblower this morning. There’s another foot out there now. at least.

Around Omaha the worst the weather gets the faster they drive.
Don and Craig…LOL that is so true. Went to school at Creighton in the 60’s. Dodge street was hell after a snow.

During the blizzard of February '78, in South Korea, while a Navy Corpsman serving with the Marines, I flew into Chin hae in the back of a C 130, took a 6 by to the railyard, climbed into a wooden, yes wooden coach that had no heat. We spent about 6 hours in that coach, using the heat tabs from our C-Rats to make hot chocolate, and to warm our hands. Finally, the Army hooked us up to a wheezy old 2-8-0, yes, we were in a wooden coach being pulled by a 2-8-0, how cool is that? I’ll tell you, it was cold!
I’m guessing the Army hooked up the steam heat, because that old wooden coach finally warmed up to just above freezing.
After a 5 hour journey, we pulled into the railhead at Pohang, on the east coast, about midway from Chin hae to the DMZ. At least 20 kts of wind whistling down the tracks. Another 6 by.
I love the Fleet Marine Force (FMF).
After a half hour in the back of that 6 by, we arrived at our destination, a large GP tent pitched about 50 yards from an unlighted, uncontrolled runway. Essentially, this was just 11,000 feet of reinforced concrete, about 50 yards wide. The only other structure to be seen was a burn barrel with about 6 people standing around it.
By this time it is 0200, 20 kts of wind blowing snow, and damn cold. Being nobodies fool, I advanced to the fire and said, “Now I know what FMF stands for, Freezing Mother…F…kers.”
One of the gents at the burn barrel had the star of a Brigadier General on his collar. Coffee spew. He was laughing so hard he could barely stand. “Thanks, Doc,” he said. “I needed that. I’ve never heard it said quite so eloquently.”

So what you are saying Ken, it’s snowing? That’s abit for sure, get more gas for the snowblower, you gonna need it.
And what about Shawn? We haven’t heard from him since this morning. Probably out playing in it. LOL. And Rooster has ran out of beer by now.

Haha I was. I tried plowing but its too deep. At least I can say I tried. Ready to strap the skis on. I should be doing the build challenge but too many things to do in the snow.

And plenty of wood for the woodstove…
I think Shawn is watching the play-by-play on the Weather Channel…
