Here I am, looking at the clock, thinking that 01:10, on a Saturday morning, is a great time to start building an engine house…now to get out to the shop and start looking at the material.
Fred,
That is a very zany idea, what you’re gonna do if you find the material??
…wait for two friends that want to help global warming, to come over and build the durn thing, in order to use it to protect four of my locomotives from global warming !!!
I got out to the shop, but decided that there was enough paper and wood scraps to get rid of; so, I’m now out in the rain burning the stuff by the pond in a chimnia. This is contributing to the idea that I may contribut enough hot air to change the path of the band of wet weather, which is threatening rain for tomorrow. If it works; our operation tomorrow will be saved…what I do for the Railroad Company, and I’m only the VP of operations,

…I will still live in great hope, and as long as this case of Laphraig doesn’t run out, the creek don’t overflow it’s banks, and the cement pond doesn’t overflow it’s sides; will continue to bravely live with that same hope…
I’m just making my check email and lock up the office and shop rounds before nightie night.
I had a (mentally) tough week, so will do some therapy time on the RR tomorrow. Probably do some ballast work. I use the Shay plus a small string of slightly modified (new wheels & paint) LGB side dumps and a Don Winter industrial caboose for the ballast train. Supposed to be a high of 86F (30C) with night and morning clouds, so the weather will be about perfect!
Fr, Fred, I recognize that “. . . get out to the shop and start looking at the material . . .” routine! I’ve been doing that for most of this year. I’ve got several big buildings ready to build, including a 2 stall engine house and a hydroelectric plant. The material is almost worn out from me looking at it!! Oops, almost forgot: I need to pour a cement pad for the hydro plant and its electric switchyard first.
Never short of ‘fun’ projects when building a RR in the wilds of Mendocino County, CA.
Good weekend to all.
Happy RRing,
Jerry Bowers
Phather Phred,
If yer gonna get up that early–or ain’t hit the fartsack yet–yuh might as well go phishing.
They bite really good right before dawn.

Fr. Fred,
Don’t you know that global warming is only caused by the hot air that is generated on another part of this forum? If’n we could shut that down, our problems would be solved.
Gator Code 16. THE COMMODORE HAS DEPARTED THE FLAG BRIDGE AND GONE BELOW SO THE TACTICAL SITUATION SHOULD SOON CLARIFY ITSELF.
John, my son;
A long time ago, I discovered that fish don’t come out of their enviorment to bother me, so I don’t go into theirs and bother them.
I only swim in swimming pools, and I don’t try to catch them, as they don’t try to catch me or pis*s in my swimming pool. !!!
Steve; time to break open the Whisky and let the ladies I collected last night come up on deck…glad you doped the Captain’s orange juice…now we party…
…oh, ho; you New Yourk Girls; can’t you dance the polka…
A sea shanty from my naval past…yes I did play at “The boats”…but only on the surface…
The “Chief” always told me that the Navy was fine, as long as you didn’t go to sea…and he made a fine point of not going to sea any more than he had to in 34 years…but was one of the greatest men, from the point of view of the ratings and officers alike.
…almost like that musical; “HMS Pinafore”…I could listen to that music all day…and would rather watch the fim, over the other crap they produce today.
My dad used to sing “I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General” from “The Pirates of Penzance,” over and over. Most of the time, I don’t think he even knew he was singing it, so sotto was his voice. When he was singing it, I knew that the board was green and that all was right in his world. I never really knew why he sang it so much, though, until last week, when I was going through one of the boxes of “stuff” that are left over after…
It seems that my dad had a career on the stage before he took up teaching. I found an old program from “The Pirates of Penzance” in which he had starred as Major General Stanley.
The things you learn after it is too late…
Fr. Fred, how’s that hole (pond) in the backyard?
Doug Arnold said:Doug; The pond in the yard is fine.....the fish seem to be thriving, and the water lillies are doing well with at least one bloom a week, on average.

The crick needs a new liner…old water bed bladders only last so long !!
