Live Steam Shay in Snow VIDEO

We had the perfect amount of snow last night and it wasn’t too cold today so the C.V.S.Ry. decided it was time for Steam & Snow 2013. There wasn’t really enough snow to bring out the plow, but the Shay wasn’t able to push it out of the way. I need to fashion a small blade that fits over the step plate.

Here’s the video…

The Candlewood Valley Scenic Railway took the opportunity of a light snowfall to boil some water and run their Steam & Snow Photo Special. Shay Locomotive #2 is shown making several run-bys at Coal Dump Curve on a chilly February day in 2013. Several times Shay #2 had problems with slippery rail on the steep curving grade, but conquered the hill in true Shay style.

Hi Terry - Thought IG would enjoy this video, but probably wouldn’t have looked in the Model Photography forum for a steam video ;]

Be sure to watch through the credits to the out-take at the end.

Jon - thank you SOO much for that great video [that’s an ‘in’ joke/play on words there, BTW]. We are deeply in love with your Shay and the subtle mods on it. Me and tac, ken and the boys are v. partial to snow, being of the Northern pursuasion, and spend much time on YT admiring ploughing scenarios in North America and Japan.

Of course, us being real simple souls, we would never have though to look anywhere else but the steam forum to see steamy stuff.

Sadly it has all gone here, although those folks lucky enough to live in NP [Northern Purgatory, as call Scotland] still have some to look forward to, I’m told.

tac’s Sister-in-Law Pat will be making some of that awful lemon drizzle cake that you inhaled last time we met up - let me know if you’d like me to bring a couple of three with me for the Invasion, along with the boy, of course.

Best wishes
