Dumb Question #1 - Bachmann New Spectrum Cars

They will release a ‘pickle car’ and ‘ventilated box car’ as several versions have been built by board members lately…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Boomer… don’t ask a question that you don’t want the answer to.

I remember at one time, Bachmann was floating the idea of building a passenger car. I believe they asked if there was interest in a Jackson & Sharp style on their website. I thought there was overwhelming support as that would mean a cheaper alternative to the Accucraft one, but some were saying they should go the enclosed vestibule style instead of an open platform. I havent heard anything else since.

I just remember Kevin’s beautiful C-19 build…Then BAM!

I really hope they release a new coach, the 1:20.3 market is a bit limited. Every new offering helps!

Hey, get Kevin to build one!

…I read the entire thread on the Bmann board. Lots of cool ideas. Not all of them practical for a company interested in making profits but one stand out over all. If you could get a Sierra or Carter brothers coach onto the market for $100 to $200 seems like you would be in the money. Given that Bmann’s Spectrum series is pretty darn nice for the price. I think they would be all over this…

And I’d have at least 3 Sierras at that price!

Never thought I’d have any Bachmann, but with their Spectrum 1:20.3 offerings it makes up almost all of my purchases over the last two years.

6 have “given their lives” for me…A 7th is on the table now.

Looking at the Bachmann board it seems that nothing has come from the company in over a year regarding the possibility of new passenger coaches. . . .

My impression is (a) that Bachmann is getting better at only announcing when something is ready (e.g. C-19) and (b) they annouce at the Toy Show in the Fall, ready for the Xmas market. Yes?

Well, if they announce a duckbill, I predict they’ll have a big winner…

The Sierra Railroad, home of the Angels Branch combine #5 and coach #6, is standard gauge. Are all of those advocating for them to be built by Bachmann thinking they would be 1:20 scale running on 70.6mm track? If not, then what is the thinking as to scale / gauge? If scale isn’t a problem, then why not just use the Aristocraft cars that are already available?

As to B’mann making some 1:20 scale passenger cars based on NG prototypes, I mostly see folks asking that they be better detailed than what is available now, but with a significantly lower price point. Great to imagine, but is there any reality there?

Jerry, you ask too many succinct questions. Watch out for black helicopters.

I’ve still got three passenger cars sitting unfinished in my workshop as it is! Can’t seem to find the mojo to work on them for some reason.

I talked to the Bachmann folks at the TCA show here last month, but they were characteristically mum on future projects. I tried to convince them that I was working on an EBT M-1, thus they needed to beat me to the punch on that one like they did the C-19. I don’t think they bought it.

K

Kevin, did they even know what you were talking about?
